Well, the silver leafing was harding then I expected!! I did the leafing on the horn last, and I think next time I’ll do it first, IF there is a next time. The flake was messy and stuck even without adhesive in places that I didn;t it, then it didn’t stick smoothly where I wanted it….

Anyway, started with a white base coat, then did the grays in pastels w/ acrylic accents. I then did the scales in acrylics because I hated how the “white” pastel dust was turning this nasty dirty looking almost green color. Did various layers of Pearl Ex violet interference dust, so there is a small flash here and there….I then antiqued with watered down black acylic w/ some retarder added. I’m reasonably happy with the peice, there are some spots I hate but I think to fool with them would only make them worse….Oh, I “antiqued” the scales in silver acrylic…

Oh wow, that is pretty! I am not keen on the horn, but I love everything else. The blending/color combo on the legs is esp gorgeous!

I’m not keen on the horn either, but I’m done messing with it. I think it would only look worse if I kept fiddling around….The leaf was really hard to use on a small round surface, but I didn’t like “leaf paint”. I think next time, I’ll just use the golden acrylic silver. I really wanted the horn to look bright and smooth silver, but no such luck…

Ski, you really should try the pastels!! I think blending is a breeze with them and I like the “softness” of the finished look better then acrylics.

        Thanks!!

Beautiful! The only think I don’t like is the horn, as you guys already noted.

I wonder if I could paint over the horn with silver acrylic?? What do you all think?

I dunno… Good question. It would probably still be flakey unless you could scrape the old stuff off, and you might cause more damage than good that way. Its still nice how it is. I would worry too much about damaging it.

Lovely, especially the legs. You’re so good at natural colors, asinnamon.

          Beautiful!

I love the antiqued scales 8)

He is beautiful! I love the silver horn!!! I think if it would have remained gold it would have clashed with the color scheme big time.

I like the horn. It looks scaled like his belly.

Whoa, he looks like a candle! Dunno why, but he looks kind of waxish. Very awesome looking!

Wow! He’s really pretty. I like how the scales look so milky. And his muzzle is well-done too.
