I just read thru this entire post.
GET THAT BABY TO THE VET ASAP!!
I had trouble with my oldest makle and it turned out to be crystals in his bladder. I had to switch him to urinalry tract formula food and since I can not seperate food all 4 are on this food now. Male cats will get these crystals so PLEASE get him to the VET ASAP

my bills for Kovu where not that much. I had to pay for a vet visit and pills and now that he is on the new food he is as good as new. Do you feed him indoor cat food? I was told that something in that food was what caused his crystals. How old is he??

Ok I got declined on the pet card so that cancells that… I called the vet to see if there is anything else I do… they couldn’t think of anything.. I called my bf and told him that either I take the cat to the vet now or he will have a dead cat… he told me we will talk about it when he gets home and I told him that it might already be too late for Tristin… I called all my friends and family to see if I can borrow money or anything.. nothing.. I called my dad to see if he knows the lawyers phone number so I can call him and see if I can get an advance on my inheritance from my grandma but my dad isn’t home at the moment… 30 minutes after calling my bf he called back and asked if I could use his card if I took the cat to the vet today, obviously no… so I called the vet to see if there was a way to work around that because the cat has to go to the vet and my bf doesn’t get off till 6 which is when the vet closes… So the vet won’t take him today because they don’t have an over night and we can’t pay today because my bf doesn’t get off till 6….
          *sigh* I am going crazy

ps. I made an appointment for tomorrow at 9

At least he’s going soon. Good luck, and best wishes to kitty for a speedy recovery.

Ask them if they will take your bf’s credit card over the phone. I hate to see the poor cat suffer because of money. I am so lucky, I think I have the last vet in the world that still takes payments

Yep, I hope it isn’t too late for the cat and it is good that you made a appointment TC.

I will agree that the cat is sick, but I wouldn’t go quite so far without seeing the cat, Kyrin.

There could be any number of things wrong, and even if he happens to be blocked, I’ve seen cats who were blocked for a couple of days pull through with fluids, meds and TLC.

Let’s not be alarmist, but yes, kitty needs to see a vet today, at the very least.

I worked for a vet for 2.5 years, in that time I had two male cats brought in with the symptoms described, they died in my arms while we were trying to save them.

I am not just shooting out my butt here, UTI blockages are life threatening and if you wait until the cat is toxic, your chances hit rock bottom quick.

Way I see it, alarmist is definately in Tristin’s best interest…if I am wrong and I pray I am, then it won’t hurt anything, but if I am right, then the sooner he gets care the better his chances, and I really feel that waiting will be detrimental.

I did feed him indoor cat food but I just recently switched them to and 80% wet food so that they get more water in their diet which has turned into 100% wet food in the last week… He is not even a year yet… like 11 months… I hope getting him in tomorrow morning won’t be too late…

I don’t understand this whole “no over night” stuff… what if an animal has to have surgery?? Do you just take home you pet after the surgery??? That’s stupid if you ask me…

Have you tried a different vet?

Is there an animal emergency clinic in your area? We have them here. They’re open in the evening and at night when a regular vet is closed. It does cost more to take your pet to such a clinic, but you can’t put a price tag on life….

I just can’t fathom the heartlessness of your boyfriend. I would seriously reflect on who I am dating.
Two months ago you were buying windstones left and right after your grandmother’s estate was settled. Is there no way you can pay to take the cat to a vet?
I’ll shut up now and leave it alone.
I wish the cat good luck.

I agree. See if there is an emergency vet in your area. They should be open 24/7. Most will charge more because of the type of service (it’s like going to see a doctor vs. an emergency room visit) but at this point it may be the only thing that saves your cat. 🙁

I’m a certified vet tech with four years experience, I know the risks, thank you, but there’s no need to make TC feel horrible about an already bad situation.

She has an appointment with the vet tomorrow. It is the best that she can do right now. It could also be giardia, coccidia, kidney failure, IBS, poisoning, feline leukemia since he’s not vaccinated, FIP or any number of things. She would know if he was having trouble urinating/blocked because he would be in the box crying and trying to pee. Right now he’s probably not peeing at all because he’s dehydrated.

Once again, good luck TC. I wish your kitty the best.

I don’t drive and there are no other vets close to me…

We don’t have an emergancy clinic that I know of and the vet didn’t know of one…

I was using money from my mothers estate and I stupidly used all I had left after school on windstones…

I have a $180 to put towards him (just paid all the bills the other day, but I just took my cat to the vet last week because he was peeing on my stuff and I thought he might have a bladder infection, which he did and that cost me $400+… If Tristin has a blockage I totally don’t have enough money to cover it… but now that we have the other $500 on credit card plus my $180 in coin and my $200 over draft so I am hoping we will be able to cover any surprises… I also have $300+ being refunded to my credit care but it might take a few days.. And I also have an Emerald Emperor for sale so I can put that money towards any other costs for him that might arise… and I also have anywhere between $30,000 – $80,000 coming from my grandmothers estate in mid July…

I have been force feeding Tristin (cat) water and chicken broth every hour and so far he has kept it all down and seems to have a little more energy so hopefully everything will go alright tomorrow…

Space your force feeding out to every two hours to give his tummy time to settle. If he’s keeping it down, it’s already looking up.

You can also get a can of something like Science Diet Sensitive Stomach that has no chunks in it, mix about ten ccs with some water and give that to him every couple of hours and see how it goes.

I hope the vet can set you up tomorrow. Keep us posted!
