-J R R TolkienJuly 4, 2007 at 9:00 am #594552Or an entire PYO that JUST WON’T COOPERATE?? >_< Seems like whatever I do to this thing just comes out looking all messy and gross!! 😛 I had a HECK of a time with antiquing tonight…just about ruined the front legs, and I don't see any way of making it better. AAAUGH!
It’s just so weird how some paint jobs just go so smoothly and perfectly (if not quickly) and others just FIGHT me the whole way through…Anyone else experience this?
(sorry…just had to rant a little *sigh**goes off to wash brushes*)

-J R R TolkienJuly 4, 2007 at 9:39 am #594553Yep. All the time. 😆 I suppose if I was as good as you, that would really bug me. I just set them aside till I have the time and inclination, at the same time, to start them up again.
July 4, 2007 at 12:58 pm #594554Yup, I know the unicorns just don’t like me. I had a heck of a time w/ the first one and the second one just dried from having an acetone bath! Good thing for this forum or my lawn would look like a PYO graveyard!! 😆
July 4, 2007 at 12:59 pm #594555If it’s not working, I jsut leave it sit until inspiration for a fix hits me.
July 4, 2007 at 2:16 pm #594556welcome to the LMFMRPYO- Losing My Freaking Mind cause I Ruined my PYO
Or should it be the PYOD- PYO Destroyers club
I can even count how many times I have been there… we should start a support group-
Hi my name is Melissa- I ruined this PYO (hold up dragon etc)
😆 Maybe if I could laugh at mistakes instead of wanting to throw it across the room or kill something I would be less stressed out? naaJuly 4, 2007 at 3:41 pm #594557mipa wrote:welcome to the LMFMRPYO- Losing My Freaking Mind cause I Ruined my PYO

Also didn’t you guys here… there are no mistakes in art.. Well my dad says that anyway… He’s a carpenter and once he put a hole in a wall (between rooms) accidently and instead of filling it and repaintint it, he cut it into a bigger hole and framed it… When the person he was doing the work for came home to see it he said that there needed to be a window there to open up the room more and she loved it… but that’s my dad
July 4, 2007 at 3:53 pm #594558I’ve wanted to chuck them out the window before. No, really. I honestly wanted to! 😆

My art: featherdust.comJuly 4, 2007 at 3:53 pm #594559Ha! I’ve got one sitting in acetone right now….Trying to do a comission with red as the main color…I HATE working with red….blah… 👿 I’ll get it eventually though….
July 4, 2007 at 3:54 pm #594560Arlla, I hope to paint as well as your mess ups someday! 😆
I can just imagine what you think is a bad paint job!July 4, 2007 at 4:07 pm #594561purplecat wrote:Ha! I’ve got one sitting in acetone right now….Trying to do a comission with red as the main color…I HATE working with red….blah… 👿 I’ll get it eventually though….
Getting a decent red is ridiculous! It either looks too pink, or like nail polish, or… ugh. That’s why it took Windstone so long to even come up with Ruby. I feel your pain!

My art: featherdust.comJuly 4, 2007 at 7:51 pm #594562Yup 😀 Way to many to count!
If it’s a piece that is mine or has time before delivery etc. I walk away for a day or 2.
If its something that has to be done NOW (like Set Painting) I go have a walk around the block and a drink (not alcohol, though that does sometimes help… 😉 ) before returning to the project. Sometimes I even get other opinions or help to get past the ‘Argh!’ stage
July 5, 2007 at 7:46 pm #594563Yeah…a lot of my issues occur with overworking wet paint, too, when I just can’t put it down until I get it right… >_< Well, I was out of the house all day yesterday and didn't touch this dang griffin….hopefully I can fix the tradedy that is his front legs and figure out what to do with the rest of him…
I’ve had several that I’ve had to dunk in paint remover as well…this one isn’t that bad, it’s just being extremely difficult and taking me FOREVER to do…I wish I could dunk just the arms in stripper….but I don’t think there’s a way to do that!!
(I think if I set him aside “for inspiration” I’d conveniently forget that he’s there and never pick him up again!! XD)I feel the same way about reds – that cardinal griff was so hard to do, despite the fact that he was almost entirely one color!! And before that was my macaw griff, and that poor thing was just a disaster all around… red is TOUGH.
and so is blending black with orange!!! D:< *waves bottle of acetone at PYO threateningly*

-J R R TolkienJuly 5, 2007 at 7:51 pm #594564So is this the hawk griffin you are working on?? Blending anything with black is a real pain. Lighter colors seem so much easier to me.

Yep. Well, it’s a falcon. And it’s not actually true black, it’s a very dark brown. but still!!! XD I’ve been working on it since I finished my tabby tiger griff…
