Here is the windstone sconce after repair, and the ceramic dragon prior to painting. He needed arms, so i gave him some. It was driving me nuts that he had no fore-paws.oh and some mid repair cause i don’t think i added them..

and the dragon mid and after:

and my freind dropped him and chipped three scales and his ears. I fixed the ears and am now painting him

lol that is awesome! What with that and my first repair being the same, we must be mirrors in a parallel universe.. lol

I think it needed arms though. turned out nice. I have primed it with some gesso i had layin around, so it is ready to paint now.

Well, I have been doing alot of repairs as of late, so I think I should update this:

I was going to do a grand unicorn resculpt, but we found some copryright stuff, so instead of that repair/rescue I am doing a similar idea with a breyer horse. There is a link below.

Old Green Mother Dragon Repair: Client requested repair and complete restoration and cleaning. These were taken-pre work after inspection for cracks and such. Has multiple crush fractures, a few scale chips, many paint flea bites, flaking gold paint, and is missing two toes, presumably from a previous touch-up as well as some caked on dust and grime to clean. This is one of my largest jobs to date.

Reprise Repair: With help from my awesome neighbor, we replaced the tang in his horn and reinstalled it, I then had to resculpt the hoof. Not sure how to duplicate this color yet, I’ll figure it out. I learned that if you do not look carefully, you may miss things initially. Always inspect and double check before a repair.

I currently now have the ability (and tiny tools) required to repair both plated and un-plated horns that are missing all or most of their tangs. If you need me to just fix a horn and send it back, I can happily do that for ya.

I also am hypothesizing that at least half of cases where the horn falls or is knocked out, that at least one segment of the tang breaks off. I Recently repaired three unicorn repair, one completely out, one very loose and then reprise. All three had tang pieces embedded in the unicorn, although the first two could still be reattached where reprises required replacement.

I have also learned that sometimes areas of crushed gypsum can exist and still be barely noticeable. I have started very carefully inspecting for them as they are usually on barely visible cracks that only take a slight bump to flake off. This was seen with Repise’s hoof and the horn of the dragon. Reprises nick went noticed for months until I sat down to touch up the paint around then horn. I picked him up off of my towel and it just flaked into dust. The dragon arrived and upon intense close inspection, I found a large crack running across the horn and under it. It moved ever slightly being held on by just the paint. A light tap revealed that the gyspum underneath the largest piece of the horn was mostly dust and tiny slivers of stone.

^^ This small dragon also belongs to Mary and suffered a fall from our shelf due to our ever climbing cat.

          (below) A snapshot of my repair area a couple months back;

          from my Facebook:
          “My Table of repairs:
Zebracorn: Medium Repair, 75% Smashed by a cat
Reprise(green unicorn), Small repair, Done Broken horn
Peo the Griffin: Small repair, Chipped day of Mailing, Done
Grand Unicorn: Large Repair, very broken, in planning”

I am also finished a couple pyo’s, and am working on a large sculpture and a portfolio.
Those can all be found at the links below.

Things in progress. New stuff, old stuff and a bit in between.

I will also be repairing an Artist Edition Zeppard Poad that face planted the floor at some point here soon too. Just waiting on the sculpt.

I also updated the Breyer Hippocampus Thread if anybody wants to pop over there for a peek.

Mother Dragon Restoration: Finished all of the apoxy work, now she is ready for a cood cleaning and a bit of paint with clear coat.

Mini Keeper “Mini” Repair: Just a chipped horn and some paint patching, nothing large.

Ebay Pegasus Restoration: I got this from WolfenMachine through Ebay with the intention of restoring it.The top picture shows what it arrived like, along with a small baggy of tiny pieces and dust and most of the large parts.

Started rebuilding the base and wings.

Oh, it was so terrifying picking him up this morning. I got as many of the pieces to fit together as I could, and had him wrapped in zip ties and rubber bands, laying nose/base down on a towel over night just praying it would set enough, that I could actually go in and secure it more solidly with apoxy today. This is my largest repair job to date and I was really worried since I can’t really run a new armature through the legs, they are much to narrow and fragile to drill through and the small enough hand drill i have is too short. I was also worried about breaking a leg apart and have to fully resculpt it. o.O

Such joy, he set over night and is plenty stable. The legs support the upper weight just fine, so he is ready for apoxy now.

Also the poad I will be fixing before the break and after it broke. I am just waiting on the sculpt to arrive:

No pieces are included, so it is is a complete resculpt of the broken area. She is also missing an eye.

Nice work! It will be cool to see how the poad and peegasus turn out! Those look tough but hopefully you can make them like new again!

            Aprrently I can’t remember to update things…

Waiting on the poad to be shipped to me still..
Finished the mini keeper and the green. No sure why I never took pics. :/

While I AM remembering something, here is a 1999 Dragon Gargoyle Repair I just finished for Werepanther.

            Before:

He also had another small chip in the base and has minor smoke damage.

            During:

            After:

Thanks for looking! Feel free to like our page while you stop by! I used apoxy sculpt to free sculpt the missing pieces using pics of unbroken gargoyles, used a towel, a rock, and a divit tool to texture and Golden brand paint for this repair. Hope it helps someone. 🙂
