I live in a very rual rough area. This is the 5th 6th time this little bugger has shown up in my yard ,last time he was here 4 days before the owners came to get him. My dogs run the fence line barking like crazy and he runs with them, my horses are running at full tilt in the dark! So I tied him up in my yard and loosened his way to tight halter and he’s a bitter and he is a BUTT! I am so sick of this little stud showing up here. The owners just don’t seem to care……..UGHHGGGHH!! I guess I’d run away too if I was kept in a 10×10 pen with the chickens. I’m worried if I call animal control the owners will do something to my animals.
He’s cute. He needs to get gelded!

Sorry he is causing you so much trouble. He is cute though! I don’t know why people don’t geld studs, if they can’t keep him contained they shouldn’t have one. Hopefully no one gets hurt. 😕

Awwww! He reminds me of a mini Appaloosa stallion (except he’s missing the spotted blanket on the butt) I used to visit with when I did some work on a horse farm in exchange for riding lessons. I miss Fever. Wonder how he’s doing.

I’m sorry that his owners can’t seem to take care of him properly. Least he knows to come where he’ll be treated nicely despite the bad behavior (which can probably be corrected). I think folks like that shouldn’t be allowed to keep animals. 😡

You can send him here, I’ve got 4 kids here who would spoil him rotten, and yes, I’d geld him!

He’s a really good looking shetland.

He’s a cutey! I would send him to the ASPCA. If the owners asked, I would say it wasn’t me. Or send Mike to talk with them 😯
People who can’t care for their horses shouldn’t have them.
Kyrin, I have a filly you can have! You’ll have to come pick her up though!

😯 Just pictured Dr. Kyrin weilding a wicked sharp knife, with lightning striking dramaticaly in the background

I’m not into horses and even I think he’s a real cutie! If he just disappeared to a nice animal home for displaced horses several counties away during one of those four days of missing owners and you “just have no idea what happened, is he missing?” *batting eyes*…

This is a silly question, Shandi, but why isn’t the pony gelded?

This sounds like a good idea to me.

Seems like you could reasonably charge the owners boarding fees if they don’t come pick him up that same day. After all, when he’s on your property, he’s your worry. I don’t suppose there’s something in the local bylaws regarding wandering stock? Frequently there are fees, fines, or other penalties for irresponsible stock owners.

He’s a cute little guy but I agree, he really should either go to a new home or be gelded. It’s as bad as an intact male dog running around loose stirring up trouble. 🙁

I guess it just must be people in Texas who do that sort of thing, because there are some people that live near me that do that too with their dog, Noodles. He’s a beautiful dog, one blue eye, one brown eye, a little white shaggy mutt. I caught him one evening, brought him home and played with him till morning and took him to the address on his tags. No one answered. Took him back later and the peoople were like “oh….yea….uh…..thanks?” and he’s out running the neighborhood and disturbing and annoying other people’s dogs and chasing the cats again. I’m almost tempted to just keep him in my yard. Not like his owners would care 🙄

If they don’t care about their own horse, why would they do something negative to your animals? I can see where if they cared about their little pony and someone took him to the SPCA, yes, they should be upset and I’d be worried they’d be seeking revenge too…but if they let him run around, they probably won’t even miss him. He *IS* cute, he deserves a home that will love and miss him. I’d call the SPCA or something similar.

I wish I had a 3am wake up call where I found a pony 🙁 Mine usually consist of a very loud buzzer and someone either sick or dying (or nothing wrong with them at all they just want a free taxi ride).

As far as I know they where given the pony well actually he’s a minature horse. They know NOTHING about horses. I tried to talk to the wife last night and explain to her that studs isolated will start being aggressive with people and other animals. They have a very neglected little girl and I tried to explain that the horse may be small but he can hurt a kid. That he would try to dominate her and since he decided to try and mount me! NASTY booger! That he would eventually become nasty to them. I suggested gelding him she looked at me like she had no clue.
To top it all off one of her many unnutered, unspayed dogs had a litter of puppies and last litter I watched die one by one. The momma dog has the worst case of mange and now she’s feeding three pups.
I am not kiding thier yard looks like a garbage dump! there are fast food bags and garbage all over the yard, junk every where it really looks like when they clean out the car or house it goes on the ground. It’s like something breaks they throw it out the front door. There are so many cars in varing degrees of dismatle that it really looks like a dump.
I just really wish they’d give the little punk to me. I know a couple of people that have room for him and would take him.

Who in there right mind would give people like that ANY animal 👿 That makes me so mad.
Next time he shows up (if he survives that long) just take him to one of your friends or a horse rescue or anywhere else but back to them. If they eventually show up you can honestly say you don’t have him this time and they can just keep looking. If I were close enough I’d take him! Even a mini can cause a great deal of damage or injury. Especially if he is feeling defensive or dominant. He really needs to be where there is decent care and training for him. I’d be more worried about their daughter in conditions like that.
An anonymous call to any animal control to investigate should not be traced back to you. If it is that obvious than anyone driving by or in the area could have seen it.
Those dogs alone are a health hazard to their little girl, your family and your animals!
