Interesting – the wings of the “Black Pastel” Scratcher, OW, and Riser are painted very differently. I suppose it is the different wing structures affecting color choices and placement.

I think it’s partly how the light is falling on the wings. Remember when the first pastel arrived at its new owner’s? S/he posted pictures, and said it was much more brightly colored than it had seemed in the pictures. The black pastel would be particularly difficult to get in the right light, because cameras have trouble with getting both very dark and light colors together. To show detail in the black, the pale parts get washed out.

I accidentally won the scratcher lol I can see about taking photos of him when he arrives?

Ah, you sniped the riser from me then. I was high bidder until the last couple minutes (I think? I last checked at 12 minutes left and I was still high bidder), but I was secretly hoping, and not hoping, that someone would outbid me hah. I’d have loved to have him, but I’d also love to not spend the money. Win win!
My scratcher is due to arrive tomorrow, so yes, it’ll be interesting to see how he looks in person. Also interesting he’s arriving early on my birthday…
