It’s time for the 2011 Spring Gift Swap to get started!
PLEASE NOTE: It seems with every swap we get a few more people that can’t meet the deadlines. We all totally understand that life sometimes happens but PLEASE, if there is even a hint of a problem let me know so we can either plan to switch someone out or at the very least inform all involved of delay. Thank you!!
Also, I do my best to try and match people that haven’t been matched before (first draw the names from a bowl then re-arrange as needed) but since there is a limited amount of participants I am getting to the point where I might need to give you someone you had previously. I hope that is ok!
What it is: If you enlist, your name gets thrown into a hat. You will receive the name of one person, and someone else will receive your name. Your goal is to put together a small care package for that person. Letters, candles, incense, chocolate, bath goodies, foodie goods, craft-store finds, etc. Something nice to brighten his or her day. You might even get a new friend out of the deal.
Timeline:
January 6th, 2011 — Sign-ups open
January 31st, 2011 — Sign-ups close
February 1st, 2011 — Swapper notifications
February 15th, 2011 — The last day to notify me of a back-up need
March 1st, 2011 — Last Day to put packages in the mailGeneral Guidelines:
— All US domestic packages *MUST* have shipping confirmation/a tracking number.
— It is suggested you include at least 3 items in your package if you are getting smaller gifts; if you wish to send one large item that is fine too.
— General price range will be $25 – $35 total spent on gift items, though if you’d like to invest more, that’s fine. And $25 is not a mandatory minimum that you have to spend– if you’re good at crafts or you have a knack for finding thrift store treasures, that’s cool, too.
— Please, please, do not ask to participate if you are unsure about your ability to follow through on your end. Yes, there are generous people who have and will throw together back-up packages so that no one gets left out. No, that does not mean that it’s okay to flake. Please note: February 15th is the absolute last date to tell me that you need to bow out.Got it? Good! 🙂
To participate, please fill out this questionnaire and email it to Traci at CrimsonVision dot net (please make sure to type out my email the correct way rather than just copying and pasting; trying to avoid spammers!), with the subject line “Windstone 2011 Spring Gift Swap”

* If there are questions you don’t feel comfortable answering, feel free to omit them.
I will assign swappers/swappees and mail you your recipient’s questionnaire. I will also keep a list of swappers/swapees, so if someone doesn’t send their package, I’ll know, and will find some way to compensate.
Everybody, have fun!
January 6, 2011 at 6:07 pm #502203January 13, 2011 at 8:25 pm #835210Bumping this back to the front. Still haven’t gotten a single email yet. 😕
January 13, 2011 at 9:00 pm #835211I can’t speak for everyone else but I’m tight on funds and time! Didn’t participate in the Christmas swap because of it. I think these swaps are great and you’ve done such a great job, Crimson, but it’s the economy. 🙁
January 13, 2011 at 10:09 pm #835212Honestly, I just forgot. I’ll look into getting an email out to you today or tomorrow.
January 13, 2011 at 10:46 pm #835213I didn’t even see this before today, so I dunno. I did send though (although, if no one else signs up then it’s kinda useless isn’t it? 😆 ). Since I’m getting help with my car, it’s the first time in a long time I’ve had some money. 🙂
January 19, 2011 at 4:53 pm #835214We have a few participants now! Bumping this again to get it back where people can see it. 😀
January 19, 2011 at 9:23 pm #835215I wish I could, but just isnt feasible if I want to get out of debt anytime soon BOO.
But I thought I would offer a suggestion http://www.elfster.com its awesome for gift exchanges because it will mix up the names and randomly match them up, the organizer CAN see them if they need to (in the event that someone is unable to meet their obligations) but their swapee will also be a surprise. But one of the best things is that you can ask your person questions without them knowing who is shopping for them, its much easier than posting a thread on the forum and hoping the right person answers it. Just a suggestion, it would also work well for the PYO swaps!

I think I’ve got a pretty good handle on running the swaps; I haven’t had any problems with getting answers for people when they have question (they email the question to me & I contact the person). Also I’ve been trying to pair up people who haven’t been paired before and lastly there are some people that will/won’t ship international so those are separate too.
Right now there are only 3 people signed up; me, Dragon87 & ghostndragon. Not sure we can do a swap with only 3 people but there is still a week plus left for sign ups… we’ll see how it goes.
January 24, 2011 at 4:30 pm #835217One more week of sign ups! 😀
January 24, 2011 at 5:29 pm #835218i would, but again, i cannot. 🙁 I am sorry.

February 3, 2011 at 5:15 pm #835222Ok, just back to work today due to ice (& on the computer with all the info!) closing the swap list. It’s a small one but it will still be fun. Will send out notifications today.
