I find I’m more focused while painting/drawing whilst listening to my ipod, my favorite ‘get in the art mood’ is music by ‘A Fine Frenzy’, I really like singer-songwriter type music but I listen to a bit of everything too.
Either you paint, draw, write, or anything else what type of music do you guys listen to while doing creating? Or do you work better in silence or perhaps watching TV?

Not currently open for PYO commissions.June 2, 2016 at 5:21 am #948769I make playlists for different projects and/or novels. My NaNoWriMo last year was full of silly and trashy love songs. My longer novels use playlists with epic video game soundtracks (I’ll never stop listening to Skyrim!), classical, anime and video game soundtracks, folk, and some rock. Oh god, and Tori Amos, she gets into everything. I used to not be able to listen to anything with English lyrics as it was distracting when I was trying to write, but I’ve gotten over that.
Example of first ten songs from in Yon Green Hill playlist:
Forest of Glass, Tori Amos
Da Pacem (chanting monks)
Firstborn, Celldweller
A Winter’s Tale, Skyrim soundtrack
the Black Rider LOTR soundtrack
Master of Tides, Lindsey Stirling
Kindertotenlieder, Mahler
Numquam Vicar, Madoka soundtrack
Metro, System of a Down

I’m currently alternating between
Star Trek (2009 movie version) and Transformers (2007), but I’ve got all three Lord of the Rings movies, Gladiator, Star Wars (all 7 movies, because John Williams is THE MAN), Pirates of the Caribbean….and other odds and ends. I downloaded some Game of Thrones music (from Season 1) because I loved the intro music.Love baby kirins, safari poads, mini keepers, and anything BLUE, BLUE, and, oh yes, BLUE.

June 3, 2016 at 12:23 am #948809I pretty much never listen to music nowadays. Whether I’m painting, cleaning, running, shopping, or commuting to work, I listen almost exclusively to Podcasts. I use to listen to TV programs, but that has waned in the last several months. Music just doesn’t really excite or stimulate me. :~
June 3, 2016 at 1:55 am #948815Essentially anything, I love a wide array of music. I guess to get me perky and pepped up, Owl City always does the trick.
Finding happiness again.
June 4, 2016 at 5:59 am #948841Yes, John Williams is amazing! I love ‘The Chairman’s Waltz’ by him, I think it’s mostly due to the use of the Cello, I’m a cello fanatic. 2Cellos also has some awesome work, ‘Hurt’ and ‘Fields of gold’ are really beautiful in Cello form.
