I’ve wanted the scratcher for 15 years, but I never had the budget. Well I found one for $50 with a small chip, and I splurged! But sadly it arrived broken. The wing is in crumbles. I feel comfortable sculpting but I am not familiar with repairing these statutes. Would 2 part epoxy be right? I’d buy another but I doubt I can find one within my price range.

I’m very sorry to hear your scratcher arrived broken. :'(

I know how devastating it is. Very early in my collecting days, a lovely peacock lap arrived broken. I was in tears. I had no experience with repairs and shipped her out to drag0nfeathers whose excellent repair job left the lap even better than “new”.

Since then, I’ve dabbled in minor repairs and on the advice of drag0nfeathers, dragonmedley, and others have found that Apoxy Sculpt works well to repair Windstones. (It works on David Winter Casles, too).

There are lots of repair people here on the forum, who can give you good advice.

Fix him up, though. He’s certainly worth it.

      Life is beautiful.

Thank you! I have used apoxy sculpt, I will pick some up and put him together. 🙂 My painting may not have professional gloss but I’ll do my best. I have experience with custom toys so I know how to paint.

You can find lots of tips on paint, finishing coats, etc. in the PYO section of the Forum. Asking questions works too! 🙂

Was yours the one posted on facebook? Sorry to see the poor damaged dragon! If you haven’t repaired a Windstone before, if I were you I would look at the repair artists on the forum here and see if anyone can help you or do the repair for you. I tried to repair what I thought were some easy little chips on Windstones and ended up giving up and shipping a bunch of my pieces to Kyrin with with years of experience who knew how to properly fix them. Drag0nfeathers is really good too but not sure if she is still taking on pieces to fix. I realized it was not as easy as I thought to try and resculpt anything and then match the paint. Or if you can get a refund on it and find another one maybe that would be easier since it does cost a bit to ship things and get them repaired. I hope it all works out for you!
