So a couple months ago, my BFF started posting pictures on facebook of herself wearing these cute, fuzzy hats. I didn’t really know what they were. When I went to visit her the next time, she shows me the website.
http://www.spirithoods.com
I thought ‘Man those things are expensive!’ but they were cute. At this point, I was TRYING not to buy anything and save up…thus Ive been MIA from the forums *shifty eyes* Then…you know, the strongest selling point is sampling. Try this wine! Try this soup! Try this new cleaning product, all for free!
So…
she puts one of her Spirithoods on my head.Lawdy. It was so nice! I mean, yes, it’s a fuzzy hat…but in the way that Windstones are “just” dragon statues. (lol el oh el) It had a thick, nice liner, the fur was SUUUUPER soft, and putting my hands in the “paw-kets” (pockets, get it!?) felt nice and kept them warm. I decided then that I needed one. They’re kind of addicting.
What I like about the community is that if you collect these things, you’re a “tribe member” and the community is so welcoming and kind, in general. Kinda like you fine folks <3 It's weird to me though, because people will trade something that is sold out for a brand new release...so its almost like trading an ebay piece for a production piece. The mentality is that "There's something I want and I don't have money at the moment, but I have this thing to trade" which is kinda cool. The "pack"/family mentality is pretty cool. Granted, because of the young demographic, there is some occasional childish drama, but hey, isn't that everywhere? *shugs*
They are great too, because in addition to being warm (some aren't so thick, like the Aurora Kitty) I have been trying to wear them out in public...on the way to work, to the store, etc. I am too concerned with how other people (strangers) see me, and in reality, I shouldn't care so much about these complete strangers I'm passing by and will never see again...so yes, I get weird looks, but it is helping me to not care so much, little by little to gain some confidence and let my freak flag fly 🙂
The company its self is pretty great too-kinda like Windstone. Made in America, human, reachable. If you comment on their facebook page or send them an email they typically respond within an hour-slower through email but same day.
This one was just released this past Monday
I just though you guys would like these ^_^
November 21, 2015 at 1:59 pm #937320These are very cool! I think I saw someone wearing one once but never knew what they were. I like the leopard one! It would go with my leopard scarf!
Looking for rainbow or pink & teal grab bags!
November 21, 2015 at 4:03 pm #937323‘Galaxy Red Fox’ blows my mind. I LOVE nebula and star scape themes so much (along with foxes)! Thanks for the link!

November 22, 2015 at 4:05 pm #937348I was looking into getting one or two about 3yrs back and just like you said they way too expensive!!! I really like them tho…
November 22, 2015 at 4:57 pm #937350I like a lot of these, but I keep going back to the red fox. Wonder if they ever go on sale?
November 23, 2015 at 6:06 am #937369I was worried when I first saw these because the fur looked awfully real, but since finding out that it’s all faux I think they’re cool! Nifty things to collect for sure. 😀

Not currently open for PYO commissions.November 25, 2015 at 11:23 pm #937484Just to let everyone know, this company is having a huge sale online Black Friday.
I wish I would have thought about a Black Friday sale before I ordered…..but perhaps one of you folks could benefit from this information, and I’ll let you know what I think of mine when I get it.

That’s part of why they’re so spendy. AS somebody who knows fur fabrics, the really nice stuff, the stuff you could mistake for real (and the stuff that I just want to roll around on whenever I get a yard of it in for a project, it’s so dang soft) can cost upwards of $100 a yard! Just for the fabric! Faux fur isn’t cheap. 😀
November 26, 2015 at 7:20 am #937518I have never yet touched this fabled fabric nor seen it in person, so I’ll take your word on it SPark! 😀 Sounds and looks really delightful though, especially if you’re tempted to roll in it haha.

Excellent!
November 27, 2015 at 3:46 am #937541I had signed up for their news letter, so I knew about the sale. Glad I waited hoping for that. I like a lot of these, but kept coming back to the red fox. I broke down and ordered it. I’ve known about these for a long time. Glad I could finally get one.

I had actually already bought (from a different ‘Discount’ retailer) and received a cheaper version of this ‘Hood with paws scarf’ item that was similar to the SpiritHood Husky. However, the SpiritHood’s Husky version looks 100+% better with just the photos, so yeah, I just ordered one and took advantage of the online Black Friday sale! WooHoo! 🙂
And yes, I DO intend on wearing it in public – I’m at that age where I’d rather be comfortable than a *Fashion* statement, but who knows? If this catches on I might be both. 🙂
