October?

A chill crept in as the night grew dark. One by one the creatures crept from their burrows, braving both darkness and perils to make their treck.

Blustering winds strove to snuff out their lights while leaves long-dead threatened to smother them. Yet onward they tread, banding together as the night wore on.

Til, at the very last of their measures, the pilgrimage was ended, the destination reached. Many had gathered, jostling and bumping amongest themselves as they settled in to wait.

Softly, a chanting began among them, the sussurus of their voices barely audible above the whistling winds.

“Raffle…raffle….raffle…”

Beckoned by the escalating clamor of the rabble, the great High Pumpkin appeared before them to answer their pleas.

Her expression said more than words ever could:

I didn’t want to be *that person* but I was curious if there would be an October raffle? I know you’re always busy–so the ones that do happen are a great boon to us…gourds of the cult. (lololol)

I did try to have fun with the asking, so I hope you at least got a grin out of it!

Also, I really love the expression on that last pumpkin. I kind of expect that ready-to-roll-ones-eyes “are you serious?”/”you’re joking right?” look from people having to deal with loonies like us followers. 😀
