My cousin in International Drum Corps

OK, so this is for my cousin Chris.

Everyone has that one family member (i assume) that is better than them in absolutely everything, right? Well for me, that was Chris. I swear, I may be older, but he always one upped me in everything, including band. Regardless, he is an amazing musician and better than I could ever do (which isn’t lightly from me who is good at what ever i put my mind towards).

His passion for music started in middle school and I really commend him for immediately going out and doing what he wanted in life. I should have too, but hey, if I went to Vet school, I wouldn’t be the artist i am, would i? Chris is currently in school for musical education and is going to become a music instructor. I think joining Drum Corps would be an amazing experience for him and one that worked hard for and totally deserves. I couldn’t think of a harder working individual and a better reward for everything he has done with his life. If you can help, please do so. His dedication is something even I revere. I can’t help myself, but I figure spreading the word could make a good difference. Just paying it forward. 🙂

From Chris to family:

“If you have not seen, this past weekend I received a contract to march with The Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps. For those of you who do not know what Drum Corps International (DCI) is, it is essentially marching band (with a few tweaks to the ensemble), on the HIGHEST level. Consider it professional if you will. Over the entire process I auditioned against over 700 other people from all over the country, and was one of only about 50 from this past weekend to be contracted. This is an VERY big deal and I feel very humbled to be entering into such an activity. This will be the only year that I am eligible to participate unfortunately as I will be too old starting next year, so this especially means a lot to me. ”

So ya, Thanks for reading! And if you haven’t yet, go look up drum corps on youtube. Marching band was my absolute favorite part of high school, and I would do almost anything to have the health to go back and do what he has now got the amazing opportunity to do!
