So I have some small, 4 x 6 inches, watercolor drawings and some sketches that I’d like to eventually send out to family, friends, and maybe some day sell some of my own art, and was wondering if anyone knows what the best way to ship small unframed drawings/paintings without fear of them getting damaged in the mail?
If anyone has any experience with this kind of thing I’d love any advise or tips you could offer!

Then put this in a rigid photo mailer and make sure that the whole mess can’t be easily bent. Then ship it off. 🙂 I always put insurance on things that I value at more than $50 just in case.

My art: featherdust.comSeptember 27, 2014 at 3:21 am #919593I used to work at Dollar Tree before I got sick (best job ever) and sometimes for shipping things like that, I’ll get the large poster board sized foam sheets and cut those up with a box cutter. That is one of the easiest and cheapest options. You could also buy a small box from Walmart for like 50 cents and cut that up to sandwich them. If you are looking for cheap options, I hope these help and the foam is lighter and often stiffer than cardboard so less for shipping if you have a dollar store near by.

Always open for pyo commissions, repairs and fine artwork! Email me for current prices! awier(@)weaselsoneasels.comSeptember 27, 2014 at 3:29 am #919594Thanks all for the advise, I definitely will start playing around with cardboard and posterboard sheets! Luckily I do have a Dollar tree nearby to go to and I’ve been hoarding cardboard boxes in my closet for awhile (Never know when I’ll need them so I obsessively hoard them, lol). I’m excited to try this out!

I use the same method as Jennifer mentioned, but haven’t insured them, I like this idea and now would definitely try it.
