      I’m just all over the place lately bothering people with my questions. Sorry if I’m bothering anybody. I did at least check the forum search to see if this had been asked before, but didn’t see anything.

      Since horns are now being produced again and I haven’t heard anything about the ki-rins having other production/mold issues, is it possible that we might be able to see PYOs for the ki-rin family set? I’m really keen to order one or two of the new fancy ki-rin, but I love that the foo dogs can be bought and painted as a matching family unit, and I honestly would want to paint a bazillion baby kirin in addition to a family.

        I am working on the Oriental dragon PYO ,and he turned into two different dragons, a male and a female. So now I need a baby for them.

        What What Whaaaat?! There will be 2 different types of PYO Orientals someday may haps? 0.o Am I reading that right?

        Oh BOY! I hope so too!
        I’d be thrilled with ONE PYO Oriental, but TWO? And maybe a Baby Oriental as well?!? Yah! πŸ˜€

          We don’t offer the regular Windstone line as PYOs, only the sculptures that we produce to be PYOs only. The idea was to keep the two lines distinct to reduce confusion about whether a piece was officially painted by us,or another artist.
          I love doing families of creatures, so it is likely that I will do more kirins. However, there are so many pieces I want to do that I don’t know when I’ll get back to them. Things with smooth scales are the toughest to finish.

          Yeah, someone had mentioned that about the possibility of a PYO mixup, and I totally understand the decision that had to be made there even if it is a disappointment. There’s enough problems with actual fakes/scammers without adding to the confusion and creating a situation where there might be accidental mixups.

          However, this is really amazing news about the oriental pyos!! I do hope you do get back to the kirin eventually, but I definitely can’t be the only person who will be genuinely excited to see a whole family of PYO orientals.

          Also, I’m just curious Melody. You mention that it’s the smooth scales that are so difficult to work with, I presume because they require the most amount of sanding. Would making a PYO family with the fancy scales positively impact the difficulty level there, or would it be about the same?

            Well they’ve gotten as far as sitting together, in a rough stage of development, on my sculpting table… we’ll see how far this family gets.

              The fancy scales are easier to do! -but they are still are very time consuming, because they need to match each other. They need to be carved slowly and carefully.

                Interesting. It sounds really labor/time intensive, then, regardless of difficulty.

                This might be getting a bit off topic, but it’s still sort of related. Have you ever posted a video online of you doing your carving, sculpting, or painting work? I know some artists don’t like to be watched or filmed working (I don’t care much for it myself) but I bet a lot of us would really enjoy getting to see how it’s done if there ever was time, manpower, and bandwidth enough.

                Melody doesn’t really like being filmed or photographed, but maybe I can talk her into letting me grab some short videos with hands only when I go down next week. πŸ™‚

                I might also have a short video of painting on some grab bags somewhere… I think I took one a few visits back, but I’m not sure I ever got around to posting it. I’ll see if I can find it this weekend. πŸ™‚

                  Ooh. Well, if it’s going to make anybody uncomfortable, please ignore the request! I absolutely understand and respect that feeling. I recently had to film myself drawing on my tablet for a work related project, and although I ended up doing it in the end, I really hated it and fought it the whole way. XD;

                  If Melody (or whoever was filmed doing painting) *would* be comfortable with people sharing a video that just showed hands and sculpt, though, I’d find that fascinating. But only if it’s okay. πŸ™‚ Thank you for the offer to share, Kiya!
