I have both me boyohs this weekend! Since it’s a holiday weekend S and I went up to Idaho and got E and his cat Loki and brought ‘ em down. Loki hasn’t been doing well the last couple months and Rod refuses to take him to the vet ( which really burns me up…) Sean has an internship this semester in school at the Banfield Pet Hospital so he made appointments for both Loki and Pixel for check ups. (Good kid). Sean’s boss Dr. Nelson, who S thinks walks on water, says that Loki is his new best friend, purrs like a jackhammer and has put up with some great indignities without complaint. Pixel, on the other hand, went from her completely charming, lap cat, rub up against you and give you kisses self into her award winning adaptation of Dr. Jekyl and Mr. Hyde, screaming at the top of her lungs, trying to bite and claw her way up and over people. Luckily she’s wearing soft paws. All she needed was a check up – such a bratty demon cat (as Sean calls her!) Loki, however, has tape worm from hunting, an ear infection and a slight eye infection, so he gets an injection or two, an antibiotic and has to have his ears cleaned twice daily. All of which E gets to learn how to do because they go back to Idaho on Monday. Loki needs his ears double checked in a week and a booster shot in two. Not quite certain how to accomplish this as I can’t afford two trips up and back to Idaho in two weeks and I know that Rod won’t pay for the follow up visits either. So, $219.00 for two cats, one which will need follow up visits and any suggestions on how I get that done and paid for without being there? But it’s good having both me boyohs together even for a small time. They haven’t quit talking since we picked up E!

Oh, that’s awesome! It’s great to hear they’re happy to see each other.

For Loki, maybe Ethan can find a kind vet with whom you can talk on the phone/email? Or if Ethan feels comfortable enough gauging the cat’s wellbeing, he might be able to wait until the next time he visits.

Have Dr . Nelson give the medicine and a syringe, or a filled syringe to E and show him how to give the shot. Giving shots is easy.
Or keep Loki with you guys until he is better.

Melody’s advice is good! I just had to pay almost $200 at the vet today myself. My fluffy cat was wagging her tail around wildly like she was in pain so we took her to the vet along with our old skinny cat for a check up and found out she had bite marks by her tail bone we had to get antibiotics and pain medicine for. She is still waving her tail around in pain and I think it’s because the cat we took in to pet sit chased her yesterday and must have bitten her. He has to stay in his own room now. That’s annoying just when we get some money in to have to spend it on that!

Looking for rainbow or pink & teal grab bags!

A good vet will understand the situation and should be willing to give Ethan the meds, like Melody said. I am doing the same with a rooster, and a vet that is 2 hours away. She is very understanding and gives me what I need so that I can make less trips back and forth.

The only problem you might run into is if Banfield has any policies in place against this (I wouldn’t think so but it’s been over a decade since I worked with them) as they are a corporation and not a local vet clinic.

Is it possible to get the shot in pill form? If so you might ask the vet to call in a prescription at one of the local pharmacies near E and charge it to you.
