February 11, 2014 at 10:11 am #908712Yes I was watching the Olympics on Sat. and saw these two sisters from Quebec take home gold and silver in women’s mogels and I was so proud! I also just finished watching two more Canadian ladies get medals in slopestyle skiing and those jumps they do are so scary looking but awesome! I know the U.S. usually ends up winning the most medals so it’s nice to see some Canadians doing well so early in the games. I cheer for all the countries though as there are so many great athletes from all around the world to watch!

Male Hearth....one day🤞Dream on.February 12, 2014 at 12:49 am #908742Cheer for everyone!!!!!!!! There was a really neat piece last night about one of the U.S. men’s crosscountry skiers who is diabetic. He has an insulin pump implanted in his chest and a port for drawing blood implanted in his side and a “reader” that reads his blood sugar numbers. Then he double checks everything himself. He said the toughest time he had was when blood sugar crashed just before the finish line and it took everything he had to finish… Only after he crossed that line did check his numbers and get his insulin leveled out. Oi!
I’m looking forward to the half pipe and ski jumpers. They train here in Park City about 20 min. from Orem and it’s fabulous to watch. Bobsled is pretty exciting too, but the skeleton (?) freaks me out! Those kids are just shooting down the mountain around 100mph with their noses literally an inch off the course. It’s really hard to watch ’em bite it, loose the sled and have to figure out a way to stop… O.o

February 12, 2014 at 9:04 am #908751Oh wow, Norway must have won a couple more since I last checked! I actually love watching Skeleton! I wanted to try it when I was a teenager as we have Canada Olympic Park here in Calgary from the ’88 Olympics so they have lots of athletes that train there in Skeleton, Bobsled and Luge. I didn’t end up trying it after hearing some scary stories about people getting injured or killed but when I used to go sledding with friends I would always go face first down the hill pretending that was Skeleton. haha. I tell you watching the jumps and flips in skiing and snowboarding though makes me sweat wondering how they manage to land those things.
