So I have purchased resin custom eyes from dreaming tree studios and others, and was wondering if anybody knew if they would hold a the temperature for polyclay or sculpey (275* F) Does anyone know?
I have used glass ones in the oven with sculpy but they are hard to find and cost more. Some things I glue in after, but for small things I’d rather add prior, but I don’t want to burn then and waste a perfectly good pair of eyes..

I’ve also made resin eye blanks for costuming (like mascots and stuff). Resin is not glass. It’s a type of plastic. If I get one dirty, I take a Q-Tip and clean the surface that way.
February 4, 2014 at 8:28 pm #908421Hey there! I am sorry that I haven’t been around here too much. 🙁 But I can tell you 96037 that, yes they do fine at that temp for multiple bakes. They can even withstand a single bake of 300 degrees or more.
My sister once made a polymer clay sculpt, and used the “Toast” setting on the oven and nearly started a fire in my studio. The tray was tossed outside with the flaming inferno of what her sculpt was…After the fire was put out, The clay was literally charred….but my resin eyes, looked pristine. “Seriously!”
I am not exaggerating either! I Hope you can see this image below:
Also…There is a trick to making a scratch less visible; Polyester resin is softer than acrylic, or epoxy resins. You can buff out a small or light scratch. Afterwards you can used either a water based gloss, or even clear nail polish on them as long as you use a blow dryer to dry the polish fast.
