My husband found this in the garage of one of his customers. He ended up trading the labor for the job for it. It’s 5 foot tall and 5 foot long and very heavy. It’s a cast aluminum replica. When we get a chance, I want to turn it over to see if I can find any markings on it to help find out more about it. That’s two of Magweno’s Dragon Foxes sitting on him. Just above them if Toothless looking like he just found lunch. 🙂

The fakes are great too, long as they are represented honestly, and priced accordingly.He isn’t really a replica, I don’t think it is a real carousel hose, im pretty sure he is a real coke advertisement though, they are pretty hard to come by I think. If it were mine I would find someone who knows about coke advertisements because some of them are worth good amounts of money.

That’s so cool! There is an old wooden carousel in Washington on the Brazos state park. It’s in this little tiny plastic house/hut locked away. I’ve been told they only bring it out on special occasions. You can see through the cracks and peek at the carousel. Its very pretty!
I remember Melody posting about a carousel project that was going on in Oregon. I will have to try to find the post. The carousel animals were the most ornate and beautiful Ive ever seen!

I found out that it is one of the replicas made by a company in Mexico of carousel horses made by Herschell, Spillman and Parker that were made at the turn of the century. They didn’t have permission to use the Coca Cola name on the stand and were made to stop doing that. So, the stand may or may not increase the value. Plus, with the exception of some paint missing on the post, it’s in very good condition. I’m really lucky to have found one this nice. I know that there are a lot of fake wood carousel horses out there, but evidently these aluminum ones were such a pain to make, that nobody bothered copying them. They were only made for a short time. It’s nice to find out some history on it. Doesn’t matter what it’s worth. It’s not going anywhere. 🙂

I’ve chased a couple of actual carousel horses on ebay & craigslist before, but either cost or that gut feeling of “something’s off here” have kept this particular thing from happening. One of these days…
