Male Hearth....one day🤞Dream on.February 8, 2013 at 7:53 pm #892863Thank you for your warm wishes!
It’s been snowing softly and steadily since mid-afternoon yesterday. We’ve got about 8″ of snow now and it doesn’t show any signs of stopping. It’s gorgeous, sparkly, and insulating. I grew up with winters like this and unless one is driving in it, it’s peaceful and wonderful.
I was able to stay home, but take care to all those on roads today.
Life is beautiful.
February 8, 2013 at 7:57 pm #892864The streets haven’t been plowed… There’s too much snow on the roads for cars to get by. With the wind, we have very interesting shapes on the roofs!

February 9, 2013 at 2:03 am #892874This is sort of normal winter weather for us, here in NY. Actually, it was much worse about two weeks ago, when we got 24″ and the wind was 50-60mph! Our windchills were something like -20 or more.

I may be Canadian bred, born and raised, but I seriously dislike Winter! Dismays my father completely…he’s part polar bear.

Me too. Canadian and I don’t like winter or snow for the most part especially shoveling snow.
On the news today they were blaming us(Alberta) and Texas for making the storm. I’m guessing that our nasty little cold snap we had last week must have made it’s way out east and picked a fight. The wind chill was so high(-40C) I actually refused to go to work(I usually suck it up and go snow or shine). One of the only things worse than extreme cold is extreme wind chill.

I’m actually a bit disappointed with this storm (at least in its relation to where I am located). We have about 4-5 inches, but the snow has already tapered off. I’ve heard about 11-14 inches, but unless it picks up again overnight, I doubt we’ll even hit 11 inches. This disappoints me. I want what Boston/Maine is getting! I miss the really snowy winters from when I was little and all through high school and college. At least we’re getting snow this Winter. Last year was just sad (only 5 inches of snow TOTAL for ALL of last Winter… in northern NY. That is just wrong!). Then again, when Irene and Sandy came through, we missed out on the winds and the majority of the rain, so I shouldn’t complain too much.
I do hope everyone stays safe though. 🙂
February 9, 2013 at 1:01 pm #892887You Polar Bears! 🙂 brrrrr……..
I don’t like Winter but a good 3ft of snow to experience, play in,not have to shovel out and go to work, sorry about that part of it,to sit in front of a big window, something warm and yummy to drink in my hands,a good book in my lap, just watching the kids play and the snow coming down.Nice.Dang,I AM getting old. :O hahahahaEvery act matters. No matter how small💞

February 9, 2013 at 7:03 pm #892901Here in coastal Maryland we got rain one day and cold weather the next, so we didn’t get any snow this time. OK by me! Every few years a storm from the south and a storm from the north collide on top of us – and we really are not equipped to handle the two feet of snow that usually comes from this combination. I hope that the people in New England get dug out soon!
February 9, 2013 at 10:53 pm #892915Just came in after hours and hours of shoveling. I’m about 15 miles north of Boston and I ended up with about 24″ of snow fall. The problem with my location is that I have a pond across the street from my house, so there is nothing that blocks me, and the wind just carried snow across the pond and the drifts ended up being 6 ft high in places. Also, I share a driveway with my neighbor, and there is only about 18″ between our houses and the driveway, so you can’t just shovel the snow to the sides, so finding places to deposit the snow is exhausting and time consuming. You spend hours just carrying snow from one place to another and shoveling it into banks that end up being 8′ high. I’m busted and broken. LOL I took photos, but I need to find my cord to upload them.
I didn’t loose power, so I consider myself very fortunate!
February 9, 2013 at 11:31 pm #892918Here you go! This was a big storm for our area. We got 25 cm of snow.
On another note, we went for the official inspection of the house we bought! With all the snow and the sun, it was really, really nice.
This one was taken last Sunday, before the storm 🙂
