Well I finally got rid of that nasty gas bubble in my left eye. I had to have surgery in my left eye for a hole in the retina on 12/3. The Dr. lifts the lens and inserts a gas bubble in the hole and then replaces the lens. As the bubble shrinks it heals the hole. The surgery was nothing but the Dr. also told me that this surgery has the worst recovery of anything. I was told the bubble would shrink and heal the hole in 2 to 4 weeks. Don’t believe it it was 7 weeks yesterday and the bubble finally went away yesterday afternoon. The first two weeks after surgery you have to look at the floor all the time and sleep on your stomach with your face looking down and that is a bummer. After that you can sleep on one side and finally after about 4 weeks you can sleep on either side and finally on your back. The bright spot is that the surgery was successful. The alternative to the surgery is you can lose the sight in that eye and I sure didn’t want to do that.
One of my closest friends had her retina partially detach and had the same thing done with the gas bubble. She’s an artist so recovery was torture for her to wait and deal with looking down all the time! So sorry you had to go through with it.
