I am nervous and excited, our first lap dragons are on their way now, and one might be here as early as tomorrow.
We have a Ruby lap coming that we lucked into for a song, and it will be our first Ruby piece at all, and then we have the Sunrise Lap on his way to us. I had to beg and scrape together my Christmas and birthday money for them, but I am really really happy to be getting them.
My big worry is them breaking, though I know that both of them are being double boxed, so what’s y’all’s take on Lappies? Lots of breakage and horror stories or perfect arrivals? Or maybe a bit of both?
I am really really happy to be so fortunate to have a rarer piece like the sunrise lap!
They are here! My Sunrise from Dracco arrived perfectly! Sadly my ruby lab has a chip on his face and will have to be sent to repairs, but it’s not a terrible chip so it shouldn’t be too hard to fix.

Laps are my favorite dragons, so I’d be waiting on pins and needles the same as you. I’ve had a ruby lap and they are BEAUTIFUL. Just remember, the ruby paint is very unstable so…NO WATER if lightly cleaning. 😉

I am going super crazy waiting! And yes, no water and no hard light- I’ve got a Red Fire scratcher and he gets a drybath with a q-tip!
If they’re packed in their original boxes I wouldn’t be worried about them any 🙂 If they’re not in original boxes, I’d be nervous, but hopeful! Laps are one of my faves… I really want one of the more blue colored peacock ones, and every time I see them come up on ebay for reasonable, is when I’m broke! lol. I can’t wait to see photos of the new additions 🙂

I just got outbid on a peacock one a few weeks ago! He was marvelously lovely but I was also broke at the time!

Ill jump in here…lol. Yep, the Sunrise is most definately in her original box and bag . Doubled boxed in a box i just got my new Riser from Windstone Ebay in with a buttload of peanuts . So, She isnt moving around in the box at all. I keep ALL of my original boxes the pieces come in. I will definately be surprised if anything happens to her !

I knew yours was! I am unsure about the Ruby one, though, but I did ask that it be double boxed and they seemed to know how to do it, so fingers crossed- but I always worry anyways, the post office once managed to break a thick walking stick in HALF and I still cannot figure out how!
I’m waiting on a green kinda like the Sky Bronze one on ebay, like I can afford it now…. Not. 😉
That would be absolutely lovely to see! We spent a long time thinking on which ones we would get, and the Ruby was kinda a happy accident, because it was the Sunrise that we’d decided on in the end. We’re trying hard not to duplicate colors too much with the dragons we have!

Oh that will be a lovely combination! We have all of the dragons in one place right now, finally, for once, all nicely set out, so I think the laps will have to be positioned one on each side, like guardians =D I think our Ruby will be on the side with the whites and golds and the Sunrise will go with the black gold and black violets!
Oooh, I’m sure you’ll enjoy them! Laps are my favorite, too, and while I never got a Ruby, I have heard they’re very light-sensitive (and water-sensitive). All of my Laps arrived quite safely, though, so I think they’re a pretty low-risk sculpt in terms of shipping damage! As long as they’re packed correctly, of course. I think the worst that ever happened to one of mine was arriving with a skewed horn, which I can’t prove was the fault of the shipping; maybe it was bent when it was put in. Either way, I straightened it out by hand with no problems.

Yep, Dracco’s will show up fine! 🙂 I’ve worked with Dracco before so I know she does good 🙂 ‘n the way the original boxes are designed, they’re meant to be able to assure the absolute safest travel for the dragons, I don’t know if I’ve ever heard of one showing up broken when it had its original box and double boxed. *knocks on wood*
Sirithiliel, your two should compliment each other very well! I’ve seen the reds paired with a silver as well, that also is a very pretty complimenting pair! I’d love.love.love to have the bluer peacock lap and a silver lap to compliment each other some day 🙂 (I always lean toward the cooler shades)

If I could stop investing a fortune into GB’s maybe my dragon collection would be greater than an emp and a curly XD lmao! When I first started collecting I swore I was going to get dragons XD 13 uni’s, 6 pebble wolves and two dragons later… I lied to myself XD LOL! (Ok, well 5 dragons, technically, since I have two gargoyle dragons and a trio of dragons candle lamp but they’re a different kind of dragon! lol… and in that term, that’d be 14 unis cause of the gargoyle uni, lol!) – Hi! Dracco has been AAA+++ top notch with me all around, so I am not terribly worried! Couldn’t ask for a more patient or understanding seller- boo for the mail losing paychecks, yay for people waiting a few more days for you to get reissued one!
I am starting to amass poads in this manner, so I understand. D:
We are getting towards our quota of what we want, Dragon collection-wise, so a lot more will probably be grab bag things now, especially since I really like poads. I even cried over missing one the other day, felt SO dumb! I really envy people’s collections of every single dragon, but I could not imagine where I’d put them all, and we have over 2000 square feet, so it’s no tiny place!
I love the triple dragon candle lamp, I have one of those too! It’s the painted one, it’s just lovely! There’s been a tea light lit in it every night since its arrival!

Sorry to burst your bubble, but Dragon61 and I have actually received a broken lap in its fitted box. Apparently if they are not seated perfectly, they can shift and one of the horns snapped off, taking off the upper part of the eyelid. Fortunately, the seller was very nice to work with and Kyrin did an expert job of repairing it. I know there are after and maybe a before photo in one of her recent repair threads.
We have also managed to ship laps successfully without their fitted boxes, one with a damaged tail that sustained no further damage. Our secret is to put a piece of flat cardboard under the lap kind of cut to fit and also a roll of bubble wrap on top of the tail curl to fill in that space and keep the tail from being pushed up as it is wrapped in layers of bubble wrap. Just ask Jinya how well the lap we sold her was wrapped. 🙂

I know lots of people are quite good about being able to ship without original boxes as well.. I was super thankful for the people who I bought my emp from, as they didn’t have his cardboard inserts… they packed him tight enough ‘n double boxed him into a huge box, so he showed up safe n sound! I’m always nervous after seeing horror stories show up on forum!
