Or maybe not so funny, you tell me?
I went to a postal outlet to ship a Windstone today and the lady behind the counter asked me if I wanted her to put “Fragile” stickers on the box. So I tell her I’ve heard that some delivery men view these stickers as a challenge to do their worst.
She gives me this sort of crooked half smile and pulls out another roll of stickers. These are large orange stickers marked “Heavy”. And she says… “They pay attention to these because they don’t want to hurt themselves”, and gives me a wide smile and a wink.
So…. Funny… or Scary??? :~

I do like this lady though, she always gives me great service! :bigsmile:

Post pictures when you do!!! LOL!
August 20, 2012 at 4:16 am #885099You summed it up! It’s both funny… AND scary all at once!!!
At my job, we’re constantly getting deliveries from UPS. Luckily there are two people that deliver. The one in the morning is incredibly nice, kind, and gentle with all of the packages… And the one in the afternoon is a complete terror! I always catch the guy flinging boxes out of the van only to slam into the pavement (even when they’re marked as fragile)! He’s been scolded by my boss for it, but it sure hasn’t stopped him from doing it.
(It makes me cringe at the thought of him -or any other delivery person- doing that to Windstone boxes. They’re far too precious to be thrown like that!)
~~~
Like you mentioned, it probably IS a far better way to label them as “heavy”! That would create a much higher survival rate for our Windstones! πAugust 20, 2012 at 2:59 pm #885103I’m going to start labelling everything “Heavy”!
August 20, 2012 at 4:34 pm #885106I’m going to start labelling everything “Heavy”!
Before you do, let’s see how this package fares! *fingers and toes crossed!*
I’ll report back after delivery π
August 24, 2012 at 4:17 am #885350How bout option C: “USEFUL!!!”
Eagerly awaiting report! π
Hopefully it will arrive just fine. Knowing you you pack things up, I’m sure that no matter what the label is, the contents will be safe.
August 24, 2012 at 11:29 pm #885406I’m usually pretty confident in my packing skills, but there have been so many Emperor horror stories that I can’t help but worry a tiny bit.
I’m very anxious for him to arrive and to hear back from my trade partner!
My own part of the trade arrived today in perfect condition. The box had been marked “Fragile” and the corners were a bit squashed, but no other damage to the box.
Edit: That might be a good rating scale for the white list: “This seller has shipped an Emperor without the original box successfully” LOL! :bigsmile:
August 24, 2012 at 11:30 pm #885419The Emperor made it in one piece! Well, at least no worse off than he was when he left me π
I don’t know if it was good packing, the “heavy” stickers, luck, or a combination of the 3, but I’m happy! π
