Most of my inspiration comes from nature. I love translating animal pattern and colors onto the pyos.

Took the words right out of my mouth! Sometimes I just pick a color and go with it too 😉
May 16, 2012 at 8:41 pm #880517Of the three I’ve done–one was based strictly on a scale pattern found in nature (the all blue/silver version of the Asagi Koi). The second (griffin) was originally based loosely on a character I wrote, but it evolved from there as I started hunting down various predator birds, looking for wing patterns–and further still when my paint and technique wouldn’t allow me to do his lower half the way I wanted to. LOL The wolf was/is a character–I wanted a dark wolf anyway based on a scene I’d done, but the unusual wing pattern on him and both versions of his story (sweet little fairy tale/folklore & full fledged character for a paranormal setting) came to me at the same time.
That’s probably why I haven’t been able to get the small dragon done that’s been patiently waiting a few weeks. I’ve had no real inspiration on it lately. I’ll probably do that one for a friend’s daughter based on a drawing from a book she sent to me, and do one of my own later when I actually have a color scheme begging to be painted!
May 19, 2012 at 12:14 pm #880640Painting without inspiration is easier to do for me but drawing/sketching is another thing.I set my canvas up somewhere out of the way where I can look at it.I will stare it for long periods of time and it remains blank. Then one time I will look up at it and the picture is there before me so I grab a pencil and do it.Usually when I start I don’t stop until it is completed or mostly because my eyes and hand needs a rest. However,I can’t seem to do that with dragons yet.I get in a zone and I paint. No patience or ability to set it back for days or weeks. If I do,it NEVER gets finished.I have three unfinished projects because of that very reason now.I think it is a waste of canvas when I do that but it is my mental snafu. 😉
Every act matters. No matter how small💞
