Seriously. What it is it with people and screwing up Jade Orientals lately? I caught one on ebay at a BIN of $120, that looked dirty, but in otherwise perfect condition, and bought it, thinking I would rescue him from his horrible life of being coated with what looked like nicotine residue. I emailed the seller, told them I would rather have it shipped Priority (they were only offering Parcel Post, those cheap-a$$es), and would they please follow the Windstone packing tutorial – I was willing to pay whatever difference was necessary, so could they just adjust the invoice. Their response – oh absolutely, we will do that, blah blah blah. After I saw the adjusted shipping cost, I had the distinct feeling they were lying through their teeth, and of COURSE…OF COURSE, those idiots wrapped him up in some bubble wrap, put him in a small plastic shopping bag, put about five pieces of wadded up newspaper on top (NOTHING underneath), and shoved all of this into a flat-rate Priority Mail box. SMH. I knew he was broken the minute I saw the box, and definitely knew it when I picked it up and could feel movement.
So here he is, in all his glory :
So now I have TWO, count that, TWO broken Jade Orientals – one headless, and one tailless (no, I haven’t had a chance to fix the headless one yet). Someone else has one that was painted over with nail polish. What’s next for this unlucky color/sculpt?
Sheesh. At least this one looks to be an easy fix, but I was so irritated that they lied about how they would follow the shipping tutorial, I requested a $50 partial refund. I don’t think that was unfair, and if there’s one thing that grinds my gears, it’s a liar.
Anyhow…I think I’ll just make this my personal repair thread, since the other became kind of a ‘how do you reset misaligned parts’ discussion, and I don’t want to fuss with it.
SIGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. Ă’_Ă“

Agreed. Yikes!
February 12, 2012 at 6:34 pm #873398Well, they coughed up the $50 without a fuss. >.> I only asked $50, because I watched the auction for that broken Light Peacock Oriental the other night, and the last time I saw it before I fell asleep, he was at around $90. So I figured that was the going rate for broken orientals. XD Bahhh.

But yeesh, stupid indeed when you gave them specific instructions to follow. It cost them a lot more to use crappy packaging than to just do it right!
February 12, 2012 at 8:45 pm #873410Yeah, considering I was obviously willing to pay them for whatever trouble they had to go to to package it like I had asked. @_@; People mystify me, sometimes. Then again, maybe he/she dug that poor oriental out of some garage sale for $10, so $50 off what I paid was no big…=
February 13, 2012 at 2:23 am #873463I also buy slightly damage dragons, due to cost. I bought a white scratcher dragon on ebay. When it arrived it had broken in 3 places. The seller wrapped it well and wrote on the box “fragile” 4 tiimes in big black letters. I contacted him and emailed pictures of the dragon, the box and the packings. Fortunally he had insured the package. I recieved a check for the full amount from the USPS and kept the dragon. The seller nor I lost a cent, plus I got to keep the dragon, which fortunally is going to be easy to fix. Personally I think a $50 refund is too low, dont forget the shipping cost you paid too. I would even be willing to buy him from you if you don’t want to repair him. My collection, except for maybe three, looks like the Island of slighty damage Windstone Dragons.

That’s sweet of you to offer, Mary, but don’t worry. He’ll be repaired and well-loved. $120 is a very good price for a Jade oriental, and she only charged me $12 for shipping (which is how I knew she was going to do it wrong, cause there was no way doing it right would be that low). $50 was enough off to placate me. =)
February 13, 2012 at 3:57 am #873475ohhh nooo! >.< I hate seeing broken orientals. There are too many of them in this world. I'm sorry the seller was deaf to your requests but good you got a refund.
