I want to celebrate the end of a perfectly dreadful year. I am looking forward to 2012 and the year of the DRAGON.
On Dec 30, 2011 someone hit my SUV in the parking lot and left, no note, nothing. 2011’s last nasty gift to me. I’ll find put the total of the damages tomorrow. Oh yay :/
In response all I have to say is THANK GOD it’s over. So come one, come all to my personal celebration, and join me in giving the bird to 2011, the year of vet bills, deaths in my family, and car repairs.

Sun Dragon Koi #3January 3, 2012 at 5:01 am #867954I sure hope 2012 is a WAY better year!!! Let us FLUSH 2011 down the toilet!!! 😀
January 3, 2012 at 5:15 am #867955I am with you… On Dec 31 my dad’s bird “Ed” was accidentally killed by a friend’s stupid, stupid mistake. He only had Ed about 6 weeks, and it wasn’t even a year old yet. My dad was always showing it off to me on the computer, and my mom said it was turning out to be a really great bird with an awesome personality. I feel terrible about it, even though I never got to meet Ed in person. I wish I had 🙁
January 3, 2012 at 6:08 am #867961I have to say, the bar is set pretty low for 2012 to be better than 2011 for me. My dad was diagnosed with lung cancer in March of 2011 and died in July (he was only 64). My grandmother passed away in September (she was in her 90s, but still).
My finances are a wreck from funeral and travel expenses, I’m just starting to pull out of the crazy grief phase (and it still whaps me up side the head unexpectedly), and on top of that I’m working full time and going to grad school and trying to be semi-stable for my kids.
Please 2012 – cut a poor girl some slack! I need 12 months to recuperate before life slaps me around some more! 🙂
January 3, 2012 at 12:35 pm #867964Good Riddance 2011!!!! 2011 was by far the hardest year of my life. The year began with a truck wrecking into my kitchen (you guys remember that!) and ended with my neighbor almost burning both our houses down. He lit his garbage on fire, but was too drunk to tend to it. His storage shed caught on fire, which contained 2 propane tanks, several gas powered lawn tools, and a stash of whiskey that he was hiding from his wife. I never heard such a boom! If the fire department would have been 5 minutes later, my bedroom would be gone. Luckily it just melted the vinyl siding off the back of our house.
Here’s to a new year! :beer:January 3, 2012 at 4:02 pm #8679732011 was a terrible year overall for me too. Family deaths, crummy financial problems beyond our control, and even the weather was terrible all year. So sorry that others had problems too. Here’s to 2012!

Male Hearth....one day🤞Dream on.January 3, 2012 at 4:55 pm #8679842011 wasn’t so bad for me-granted I spent the last 3 months of it unemployed (and still am), one of my cousins got married, her sister got engaged, I finally bought my dream car, officially moved in with my significant other, helped him past his substance abuse problem, my parents are finally BOTH working decent jobs and getting ahead on their bills, and I’ve added some amazing additions to my Windstone collection 🙂 Every three years I have some huge losses-all the important people in my life either stop talking to me, or I get my heart broken, unemployed for months or my car gets totaled/wrecked or something huge. It happened in 3rd grade, 6th grade, 9th grade, my senior year of high school, 2007, 2010….so 2012 should be good I hope.
January 3, 2012 at 5:54 pm #8679912011 was also the worst year of my life! It should have been a good year since my dad got a new liver (long story short: he got Hepatitis C through a contaminated blood transfusion and it evolved into cancer that was left untreated until it was too late because of a mistake by the hospital).
The transplant should have have been good news right?… WRONG! There were several complications, he ended up almost dying several times and is only now starting to really get better.
I spent 6 months of the year in the worst appartement I’ve EVER lived in, with the worst neighbours and the worst landlord in the world!!!
And to top off the year, my 14-year-old puppy got very sick just last week and scared the living daylight out of me!!! She is much better though and I’ve got an appointment with a specialist this week.
So good riddance 2011 and here’s to a better 2012!

January 3, 2012 at 8:11 pm #868018Oh Pam, I’m sorry to hear about your dad’s bird. A friend of mine had something similar happen to his snake… He had to go out of town for a work conference and left his sister in charge of his place and came home to find his snake dead of stupidity… just plain stupidity. It is so sad.
January 3, 2012 at 8:45 pm #868022I’m with everyone else–I would like to see things get better for everyone. I’m hoping some good things this year for myself–but time will tell. And..2012 will be the year of the Dragon! I was born in the year of the Dragon so hopefully, that is a good sign.
Then there’s that Mayan calendar thing that says the world will come to an end on December 21st of this year. Then I’ve heard that may not be necessarily so–that a new world order may come. I just hope it’s a lot better than what we’ve been seeing.
Pam, I’m so sorry about your dad’s bird. I’m a big bird lover myself and would probably do physical harm to someone hurting any of them.
So everyone, here’s wishing the best to all of you–at least we have this forum and all the wonderful people who are part of it. It certainly helps us get through when hard times hit.
