OK So some of you on Deviant Art might know about this, but if you don’t this is basically what happened….
There was a site called Art4Love.com that was involved in stilling over 4,000 images from artist on Deviantart.com. More info here http://blog.deirdrereynolds.com/2011/08/art-theft-scam-list.html
There are also screen shots there so you can check and make sure none of your artwork was taken. Also if you see an artist work you recognize you might want to contact the artist and make sure they know about it.

This has been everywhere. A lot of people are trying to shut it all down, and get this guy “what’s coming to him”. However, I have yet to see anything happen :/ If anyone has some news on what’s being done, I’d love to hear it.

Thankfully I watermark my work. Not just on the edge of pictures like most artists do, but also somewhere in the middle of the work. The artwork I’ve seen stolen all had watermarks where the guy could just crop the image a little smaller and get rid of it.

The nerve of the guy. To steal and claim that all the work is him. How is he not being sued? In addition to the theft, there are also copyrighted characters on the site. With brief browsing, I saw Transformers, Marvel characters, and the cheshire cat from McGee’s Alice. If nothing else, those companies should be on him for selling their work.

So fare I know DC has opened a class action law suet and I think someone said Paramount Pictures for a DVD cover he said he had the rights too. There is an artist on DA that’s putting some stuff together (this link http://alexiuss.deviantart.com/art/MASSIVE-COPYRIGHT-INFRINGEMENT-253771…) they are trying to raise the money to start a law suet. The DA group is also a great place to see all the updates & what everyone is trying to do to stop this guy. He just reregistered the domain name art4love.com too….

Yeah I watermark the heck out of my work but I have a friend whos work was stollen. He cropped her watermark & signature out and the watermark she had in the background he just blurred out using photoshop 🙁 Then he claimed her artwork as original hand-painted oils LOL which is so funny because all her work in digital!

Ugh.. This seriously makes me sick. I started to look through some of the stuff but I don’t have the stomach to look through it all right now, it’s getting me all sorts of rialed up… I doubt any of my stuff is up there since I only recently (within the past month) started uploading art back on DeviantArt.. Still, it makes me sick that someone would think to do this AND think theyd get away with it. I hope he pays deeply.

I don’t understand how anyone browsing the site could think that one person produced all of these works of art…. I mean, there are versatile artists out there, but no one is THAT versatile that I know of.

It was a pretty slim chance anyway, but none of my art is up there. I did recognize a lot of the stolen art though, from my favorite artists. I hope he learns why this isn’t cool.
