Random, but here’s a bit of happiness Im excited about!
Well, I had my cable and internet with Comcast since last summer of 2010. They were really great, I bragged a lot about them-how they always answer the phone, how there’s always a live, english speaking person on the other end, their billing is easy to understand, they have a great value etc.
Well, apparantly we’d been getting more channels than we were supposed to with basic cable. In February, they did this “Digital Migration” thing and we were bumped back to truly basic cable…which meant 10 or so channels, half of which were Mexican stations. -_- AND, since my contract ran out, I was bumped down from their BLAST/awesome internet to their mediocre, average internet, for more money/month.Then I hear this thing that AT&T has for cable and internet for about the same as Im paying for Comcast.
I signed up last night and OMG IM SO EXCITED! On July 20th, the cable man will come out and install U-Verse, which means I’ll get 180 channels, (Animal Planet and Food Network YAY!) and maybe even Cartoon Network O.O!! And my internet will be faster too!
SO I get to call Comcast today and tell them that when my billing cycle is over this month, they can shove it! *happy dance*
AND I got a new phone today! My mom and I share a phone plan, and she got sick of all these unexplained charges on her AT&T bill (we were supposed to be paying $110 or $120 and the bill was always at least $150) so she and my dad went down to Verizon and got me and her new phones 🙂 I get to pick it up from my Aunt’s house after work today. Its a Samsung (which is good, because the last 2 phones I had were Samsungs and I liked them) and she thinks its called a “Fantastic”? Im excited to see which one it is!
I have/had an AT&T Samsung Mystic-it looks cool, but its not a smart phone and its a pain in the butt if you want to do anything other than call, text or listen to music. It does have a standard headphone jack, which was a plus, but oh well)New cable and new phone! *Happy dance* yay technology!
July 7, 2011 at 9:38 pm #850354I’m just sitting here admiring my 1950s hard-wired rotary dial wall phone that was installed when the house was built. 😉 That’s the kind of technology I like. I have been told that eventually the telephone system infrastructure will no longer support a phone like this, but so far, so good! And if I must use touchtone, I have a push-button phone downstairs.

And that wall phone sounds absolutely awesome!
