If you have any trouble placing orders using our store, please let us know what the trouble is. We are still looking for problems and ironing out problems. Please let us know if you have any problems (related to the store, of course!!!)
May 27, 2011 at 12:56 am #846402I didn’t have any problem ordering, my only problem was that the shipping price was incorrect, but I guess you already know that problem, since you issued a refund.
I wonder if it’s fixed though, because if it’s not, it might be helpful to other members to know that the shipping price given by the store is not always accurate. I know I would have placed my order earlier if the store had not told me that the shipping price for two bookends was $68. 😉
May 27, 2011 at 1:55 am #846416I did yesterday, it didn’t want to give me the province when I used my saved address. Iit gave me the correct country as Canada but it wouldn’t list Ontario, just the US states. I just had to refresh a couple of times and it reset itself so it was just a bit of a pain.

May 27, 2011 at 3:24 am #846433As I reported earlier today, I had to empty my previous order out of my cart before placing my current order. Also, for some reason I was informed upon logging into the store that I had two messages. When logging into the forum the last few days, I did not receive notification of these messages. The store seems a strange place to announce mail.
Neither of these caused a problem with placing the order, although I might have ended up with more Windstones than I intended!
May 27, 2011 at 4:16 pm #846467That too. Every time I place an order, my previous order is still in my cart, so I have to delete those items.
May 27, 2011 at 4:25 pm #846468I have a question about the cart. How long does an item stay in it before it is taken out,if not completing the order right then?
I had a unicorn in my cart but I was busy with dinner and such at the time. When I got back to it in a bit,the unicorn was no longer available. :((Every act matters. No matter how small💞

I have this also. I had figured it was just a minor glitch – I hope these “ghost” pieces don’t affect how many items the store thinks are available!

I had a unicorn in my cart but I was busy with dinner and such at the time. When I got back to it in a bit,the unicorn was no longer available. :((Short version: An item will stay in your cart indefinitely if you don’t remove it or buy it. However, being in your cart does not mean it’s reserved for you! It’s not ‘yours’ until you check out.
Long version:
This is how the shopping cart system works, in online stores:
Pretend your online shopping cart is a real cart and you are in a real store. This store is full of invisible people that cannot see each other. No one can see you, and you can’t see anyone else. But you know that they are all there, shopping.
In order to buy an item… lets’ say a box of cheerios, you take a photo off the shelf of the box of cheerios. When you get to the register, you show them the photo of what you want (a box of cheerios), you pay, and they hand you the real box of cheerios. So you grab your photo for the box of cheerios. You leave for a while and do other things. Maybe you weren’t quite sure if you wanted cheerios and need to decide on it. Or maybe you got a call from your cousin and are distracted for a while. Meanwhile, all of the other invisible customers are also getting photos of the cheerios. They are checking out and getting their real box of cheerios. By the time you come back, even though you still have the photo of the cheerios to turn in… when you get to the register, they are sold out of actual boxes of cheerios.
This can happen quickly or slowly.
You might put the photo of the cheerios in your cart and check out minutes later and they are sold out already!
Or, it could take days or weeks.
The photo of the cheerios will stay in your cart. But the actual cheerios can sell out at any time, depending on the number of other ‘invisible shoppers’.An item is not ‘held’ for you until you actually click ‘checkout’ and buy it. I know this isn’t exactly fair– but it’s the only realistic way of doing it. Otherwise if someone put an item in their cart and never came back that item could never be sold. There is also no realistic way of adding a time frame to the cart– imagine if carts were ‘held’ for even just 24 hours. If someone added 300 cheerios to their cart and there were only 300 to start with, the cheerios would be ‘sold out’ for 24 hours, even if that person never intended to buy them! Remember, anyone passing by on the internet can add items to their carts. It’d create a real nightmare.
In closing: sadly just because it’s in your cart does not mean it is in stock.
