    http://undermydreamingtree.blogspot.com/2011/03/saving-sebastian.html

I am beginning a campaign to raise money for my Fur-Baby Sebastian. I will be compiling a bunch of stuffage in my e stores to sell just for his care. I will be doing this beginning this afternoon. Any help is really appreciated, donations are accepted as well. All donations will be given a free gift as a token of our appreciation. Pleas make sure that a valid mailing address is included so I can mail it out to you all as a thank you.

Poor Sebastian! 🙁 I hope he pulls through this without needing that dangerous and invasive surgery. I’ll definitely check your stores out later…

    Hang in there!

Oh no! I hate it when furbabies are in trouble, but please keep up hope! My cat Bubbas recently passed away, but that was after 22 years he spent with us, that last 7 of which the vets told us he would never make it when he ran into health problems of his own! Our vet bills mounted to over $3000 and since it was on credit cards I’m sure we probably paid double that. People thought my sister and I were crazy for sinking that kind of money into a 15 year old cat but he pulled through with treatment and lived 7 more happy years with us and was just a few months from turning 23 before finally passing from old age, so don’t give up hope!!!

When I get paid this week I’ll try and send some donations your way! Take care and I’ll be thinking of you guys!

        His Updates:

Sebastian is having three oscipation procedures since my blog entry. The third is happening this afternoon. Hopefully, this will be enough to clear his bowels. They claim that they are having a tough time manipulating his digestive tract because his belly is so big. He has been given pain medication through his IV drip along with all the necessary fluids his body needs. He still refuses food,….”And who can blame him!” but, he still needs nutrition. TUFTS hopes that once he comes home, he may be comfortable enough to try some wet food. *crosses fingers*

Our vet bills are up to $2,200 at this point. Donations has saved us $135.00. We are so very grateful! Any help is very much accepted, no matter how little.

Sebastian, and his whole family cannot thank everyone enough!

I hope to get on the ball this weekend to get the productions underway. I have too stressed this week to do anything but worry. 🙁

I’m glad Sebastian is hanging in there and I really hope that procedure this afternoon works!! It’s so hard to unwind when something like that is going on, but I hope you’re able to take some time for yourself. 🙁

              Oh no!!!! Worse how?

(edited) I’m reading the blog now… this is heart breaking

He looks very alarmingly like how Bubbas did when he was starting to go down hill. I know he’s not getting any food, but is he at least drinking water or did they have you give him an IV to keep him from getting dehydrated?

I’ve never been to Tufts, but I used our emergency clinic when Bubbas was ill. They charged us almost $3000 and the problem never really got fixed. They just stabalized him and made him confortable. We went to our local vet after they sent him home for a second opinion and found out he had a severe infection from a bad tooth which was what caused him to get so sick. Not “old age” like the emergency clinic had told us when they sent him home with us. His age did attribute to how sick he got from a simple problem, but he wasn’t dying from old age. His immune system was just so weak it couldn’t deal with a simple infection. Once the tooth was removed and he was given meds for the infection ONLY and with 3 or 4 days he was fine and that cost us about $60.

The point I am making is, even though you may be at the best place, it’s always quite possible that they aren’t looking at the right thing that’s causing the problem. I hate to add to your costs but maybe you should get a second opinion. I find it unusual they didn’t let you see the xrays… or even GIVE them to you. YOU paid for them so they are YOURS. I would take them to another vet and see if they see something maybe Tufts missed. Have they taken any bloodwork? What is it that’s unusual if anything?

Have you tried Nutrical? You can pick it up at your local pet store. It’s a beef flavored paste. You can at least get a little bead of that and stick it in his mouth or oh his nose. It will give him SOME nutrition in his system at least if he doesn’t want to eat. It’s just a vitamin suppliment for cats that has a load of calories and energy booting vitamins. I mix it in wet food for my older cats. It’s also good for cats that have trouble digesting or get a lot of hairballs because it digests easily since it has the consistancy of an oily gel.

I’m so sorry your poor kitty s going through this. It’s the most horrible thing a pet parent can go through. I can’t tell you how many times I have cried thinking how unfair it is that most beloved animals have such short life spans. It’s not fair, but the best thing you can do it just make him comfortable and love him up the best as you can. It’s always possible you might have to make that horrible decision all pet owners dread. Sebastian will tell you if it comes to that… you’ll know if he’s gotten to that point, but I hope he can overcome this and fight whatever is wrong.

I hope Sebastian comes out of this OK. A few years ago I had a 12 year old chow chow that had an inverted stomach (I had never heard of it before) but He started having trouble late one Sat. night and I rushed him to the emergency clinic. They operated him on Sunday morning and he survived. I picked him up the following Wednesday. That cost me $6,000 but I considered it money well spent and I had him for another 19 months. A lot of people thought I was crazy to spend that money on a 12 year old dog but I did it and knowing what the cost would be would I do it again – ABSOLUTELY
