Hello π My name is Heather. I am fairly new to the forum. The short time I have been on here, I have really enjoyed it. Anyway….I wanted to share with you my first PYO. It isn’t totally completed yet. I still need to finish the eyes and I have a few more plans for her. Her name is Stardust. With this being my first PYO any feedback would be much appreciated. I haven’t painted in such a long time, I really need to *brush* up on it XD I am a metalsmith that makes jewelry along with being a single mother and find it hard to always fit in doing all of these things that I would love to do π Thank you!
March 6, 2011 at 6:19 pm #839718Can’t say I can give any advice, but I like this unicorn! A real ‘worked/textured’ feel to the way you painted her, and I like the effect with the different colored strands in the mane and tail. I love how you painted around the hooves too. Nice job! π
March 6, 2011 at 6:26 pm #839719She looks great so far. She will be beautiful when she is complete π
March 6, 2011 at 6:49 pm #839720I think shes pretty!
March 6, 2011 at 6:57 pm #839721She reminds me of a My Little Pony I had when I was a little. I really like her so far π .
March 6, 2011 at 7:01 pm #839722Nice job so far MoonWillow! Did you use gold/blue interference on her? It definitely gives her a starry feel! I also like the individual strands that you painted on the mane and tail – that’s not an easy thing to do and to get to look right! Can’t wait to see her all finished π

Did you use any sort of interference paint/powders on her? She’s lovely!

March 7, 2011 at 1:54 am #839726Aside from the missing eyes, I wouldnt have even known she was unfinished! I like the antiqued look she seems to have.
March 7, 2011 at 9:57 pm #839727She’s pretty! I can’t wait to see her all finished! π

March 7, 2011 at 11:11 pm #839728I like her, it seems like she’s a kind of metallic rock, that’s wearing away at places to reveal the colorful core underneath. A very antiqued and textured piece, it’s very pretty so far!
No advice though. Sorry I’m just as bad as everyone else!! π
March 8, 2011 at 8:10 am #839729Love your unicorn. π I checked out your Etsy site too. That pink opal is lovely!
March 8, 2011 at 5:07 pm #839730Thanks everyone so much for all of the comments π Sorry to respond back so late. I am a silversmith/jewelry artist and have been totally swamped with my online shop.
I did quite a few different techniques on her. I really love Appaloosa horses so that is where her markings come from and I had to give her a magical touch due to her being a unicorn π I did a lot of antiquing, shading, dry brushing, defining, and the sparkling/glowing ares are from a violet and pearl pigment interference. She now has a top coat on her drying. After she dries I will set her eyes which are Lavender and I will be setting a rainbow Moonstone into her forehead π And….she is sold to a very sweet lady π
Thanks so much! I can’t wait to start on my next PYO project π I am going to (when I get the chance) set up a flicker account and be posting my PYO’s and jewelry there π -
