So I have been in beta for Rift and it is absolutely amazing. I have played WoW since vanilla and was in one of the top US raiding guilds but got very bored with this last expansion.
Rift is fresh and new and has amazing game play. The class system has endless possibilities. I have actually dropped WoW. This is a feat for me since I have been playing WoW for almost 7 years.Does anyone else been in the beta?
Man if only another game would come out with a cool playable non-humanoid race. It’s the only reason I stick with Istaria … because I can play a dragon. *grumblegrumble* XD

My art: featherdust.comI’ve also been playing WoW since just after release, and I too am considering canceling my account. I’m just not entertained at the moment. :-/ I’ve been in all of Rift’s betas, and have already preordered for myself and my husband. 😀
@Nan I still miss Istaria. I loved the community, crafting, and playing a dragon, but alas it’s like an unpolished diamond. 🙁 I really wish they could get more funding for the game.
Sagi was telling me about this game! I’ve also been playing (and still play) WoW since Classic. I actually love the Cataclysm expansion – they’ve done a lot of things with the game that I’ve been wanting them to do for a long time. However, I’ve noticed that the tolerance level of players has steeply declined within the last 2 expansions – the player base is almost unbearable to work with. I’d definitely give this new game a try..
I can see that it is a pay-to-play, but is it the standard 15 dollars a month? Also, are there several servers? (I know, you probably can’t answer this since it’s still in beta)
I’d like to try it, but I fear that my boyfriend would be unwilling to because it’s money that he cant spend *pout*. Also, I wish there was more than just different looking humans to play!

There’s twenty-something US servers in beta, and a similar amount for EU, but I’m not sure how many they’ll go with at launch. You can see the beta servers on this unofficial page: http://www.riftstatus.com/
There’s an open beta going on this week, so if you sign up on the site, hopefully you can still get in. I recommend playing to at least level 15 to get a feel for the dynamic content.
I also wish there was more visual diversity to the races, but hopefully that will come in time. 🙂 The Trion team is really amazing. I’ve been very impressed by them.
I agree DantheDragon! Trion is an amazing company. They really take the opinions of player feedback. Of course the PvP players are trolling the forums as of late.
I love the mounts and pets! I am mount and pet collector in WoW. ( I know regret using my spectrial tiger mount, should have sold it) I pre ordered the collector’s edition and it comes with a 2 headed turtle. It’s hilarious to watch them run. They try to gallop and it looks like it came out of a cartoon. 😀
I am disappionted with the lack of hair styles, epically for the dark elves. I read in the forums that there will be more choices once it goes live.

I was hoping to, since I have been playing WoW since Original Beta Testing. I STILL want one of those!! 😆 Did you get it by chance? I was friends with a fellow who actually bought boxes and boxes of TCG cards specifically to get one of these. He thought it would be cheaper. He said all in all it cost him around $400.00 – which, at the moment, is definitely cheaper – but imagine having to go through all those cards!
I’m downloading Rift on my computer at home. Honestly, if I like it enough I will play with or without my boyfriend 😆
Also, I think we should all roll on the same server 😳 I’d love to play a game with you guys.
OOH and one more question – are there PVP and PVE servers? I’m not a fan of PVP, so I’m just hoping that there are options to not always be preyed on by other players ><

There’s something for everyone 😀 There’s PvE, PvP, RP-PvE, and RP-PvP. 😀 I like RP, but my husband likes PvP, so I’ll probably end up on a RP-PvP server and die… a lot. Hahha.

Ask Snap, he was the last to work on Franken-Comp, but it said Complete Incompatibility. 😥
It told me I had to download a driver as well, but I hadn’t updated in a long time.
Not that this will matter for long, but what servers are you guys playing on?
