I was wondering why Windstone doesnt occationally auction an entire ‘set’ in one auction? For example, the Wedding Cake family. Like maybe auctioning a set (mother, father, two chicks) of Cheetah griffins, or a set (mother, father, hatching, young) of Black Emerald dragons? Pinto unicorns? It would be nice to be able to get a ‘set’ once in a while without having to fight for every single piece at auction.
February 11, 2011 at 9:58 pm #838062While I can’t speak for Windstone or Melody, I would imagine that putting up a whole family at a time would narrow the number of people willing/able to bid on it. More people are probably able to afford a single piece at a time as opposed to an entire family. Also, some people simply only like one or two figures within a family (I, myself, am not a fan of the fledgeling dragon or hatching dragons, though I like the young, mother, and male).

We did that twice, with the Black and tan pair ( that set had a repainted, but equally old hatcher included) and the Wedding cake set, just because those were the original adults and I wanted them to stay together.
We don’t offer sets on ebay simply because we have found the sets sell for almost the same amount as an individual piece!
We can’t afford it!February 12, 2011 at 12:22 am #838064yeah…that makes sense…many folks when spending money will think of what they’re spending in “per purchase” amounts….making it so they’ll only bid or spend so much in one go.
Also, those who have to budget in funds for purchasing art would rarely have enough to bid on what a set should go for….thereby decreasing the likely ending price of sculpture sets.
I remember the pics of the black and tan dragons…they were reeeeally nice. I’d still love to see a production or limited production run of those someday. squeek*

February 14, 2011 at 5:53 pm #838066If you did that you would probably have to put a “Buy It Now” price or a bigger starting price but that would probably cut down on the number of bidders

We like to start the bidding at 99 cents. It is traditional.
