Some people here already know me. Jennifer, Machineguts… etc.
I’ve been lurking as a “guest” for a while, but only recently registered on the forum…
Uh, I guess I should write a little about myself?
I’m 32, going on 33 next month. I’m a former animal care attendant that worked in emergency/referral animal hospitals for a few years. Currently I’m going back to being a dog groomer, it’s less stressful. So I guess it’s pretty obvious that I’m an “animal person”. I grew up with cats, but now I’m allergic so I don’t own any. I do however currently own one dog (APBT mix), two rats (I had as many as 12 at one point a few years ago), and two corn snakes. I used to have tropical and cold-water aquariums as well… but don’t have room for them anymore. I love koi and ornamental goldfish the most. I’m an active supporter of several pit bull/animal rescues and anti-BSL groups up here in Canada.
I’m also an artist of sorts. I draw stuff…. fantasy, sci-fi, video game fanart, and anthropomorphic stuff. The kind of stuff you’d expect from someone who likes Windstone sculptures. lol
I used to draw and paint a lot more, but you know how it is when life gets busy… (Link to my dA archive: http://jaxxblackfox.deviantart.com/)
Urm… what else?
I guess I could say that I’ve been a fan of Melody’s stuff for a pretty long time. I remember the first time I saw one of the green mother dragons back in what… late 80’s, early 90’s? I was pretty young. I never knew people out there made such pretty sculptures of fantasy creatures. Up to that point the only dragons I’d ever seen in stores were tiny pewter or ceramic things with very little life to them. I remember begging my mother and father for YEARS to get one for me. And I think it was around ’98 when finally they caved in… and got me a mother dragon for my birthday. Original peacock coloration. I still have her of course, in nearly pristine condition (I think she’s only got one tiny chip on her, not bad for a girl her age who’s been through a few moves).
The one that started it all:
My feeble display:
I admit I don’t have much of a collection. By the time I entered the working world full time and was making decent money, most of the shops where I used to see Windstones sold, no longer carried them (which broke my heart). So I was never able to indulge my urge to add to my sparse little collection….
All I have is of course the Mother Dragon in peacock (original version), the Young Dragon in that pearl/white coloration, the Fledgling Dragon in the second incarnation of the peacock coloration, a version of the coiled dragon of which I’m not even sure of the name, that’s in the second version of peacock… and two candle lamps. A Spirit Wolf, and dragon wall sconce. I did have a Small Winged Spirit Wolf “gargoyle” too, but it was damaged beyond repair during one of my moves a few years back… one day I hope to replace it.
I really hope to be able to get my hands on some of those neat PYO’s eventually. I think I’d have a blast with them! The Kirin is SO cute!
Anyway… hello to all of you. Hope you don’t mind me lurking about, enjoying all your posts full of shiny dragon/griffon/critter eye candy. :bye:

February 6, 2011 at 10:32 pm #837720And now that you’ve found the forum you’ll soon be complaining that you do not have enough room for your growing collection. Better break the news to your wallet now, it will need consoling. 😀
Glad you found us!! Great work, btw! 8)
February 6, 2011 at 11:01 pm #837721Yes i’m sure you will find a way to get more soon. Many of the online stores will ship to you as long as your willing to pay the shipping. I’d say that’s a pretty nice little collection that will almost certainly be growing soon 🙂

Really?? That’s pretty cool. I didn’t think anyone other than Jen’ and M.G. would know me… lol
And don’t worry…I’m sure I’ll be blabbing all about it when I get a PYO eventually. I’d LOVE to get my mitts on one of those kirins….bayoudragon wrote:And now that you’ve found the forum you’ll soon be complaining that you do not have enough room for your growing collection.
