So I have been trying to get my hands on a peacock emperor for a while now; a very good friend of mine has wanted one for a while but she can’t afford to purchase a mint one and I can’t afford to purchase a mint one as a gift for her.
So I saw this ebay auction: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=390283399001&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT
How much am I looking at to fix him? I can’t even tell really what the damage to the tail is but the seller says it’s ‘taped on’? How much would be a reasonable amount to pay for him on ebay?
I’m not a dragon person so I have no idea; just trying to do something nice for a old friend.
January 26, 2011 at 10:04 pm #836607Shipping alone will be probably $60(to the repair person and back)-and maybe another $40 for repairs and repainting the damage.
January 26, 2011 at 10:41 pm #836608I think you’ll find that the bit of the broken horn is taped to the back of the emperor’s neck if you look at the main pic closely. That will be a relatively easy fix I think. The tail is whole but with dings and missing paint. He is definately worth getting fixed as his damage is not too bad. Good luck!
January 27, 2011 at 10:12 pm #836609How come it looks like there is plastic fused to the back of his wings?
January 27, 2011 at 10:24 pm #836610It looks to me, like the owner tried to clean him and rubbed all the top coat ( seal) on his wings; and now its flaking or peeling off.
January 27, 2011 at 11:15 pm #836611Just looks like he used tape to put the broken bits on the piece for the moment. Looks easy enough to fix, but it would be a pain and quite costly to ship it around.

The current price is pretty sweet, but only if you can fix him yourself. I wouldn’t want to pay shipping back and forth plus the price for repairs on him, especially considering one in excellent condition sold for just $150 not too long ago.
January 28, 2011 at 12:29 am #836613I paid $50 for the one I got, but it’s missing it’s whole tail. 😳 I always panned on fixing it… I made a mold, but I haven’t done anything with it since.

She sent it via USPS, single boxed with a little bubble wrap. So of course his tail broke off. 😥 That was years ago though. I patched him up and sold him as damaged for $150 a few weeks ago. That does seem to be the going rate-good or bad condition.
February 2, 2011 at 9:19 pm #836615wow, he went for a lot considering how damaged he looks with that peely stuff all over.. I hope whoever bought him realized he had that and isn’t disappointed when they get him and realize how much they spent…
February 3, 2011 at 7:59 pm #836616Wow yeah that is quite a bit for him! It wasn’t me; it turns out I’ll be buying a repaired one from a forum member. 😀
