Yay! I can finally start a new thread here 🙂 I have painted only 4 PYO’s to date
      1. An un-inspired grey, black and white griffin-he got sold on ebay so he may have a new coat of paint now 😉
      2. A gold and copper “Koi rin”
      3. Clownfish inspired Kirin
      4. Grulla uni (before the grulla color came out) who got broken and never finished by me. Another forum member has her now.

      1.

      2. Still looking for pics
      3.

      4.

And now, my 5th PYO, a phoenix in a color I am calling Nashville Skyline.

She was inspired by this photo:
      http://www.turbophoto.com/Free-Stock-Images/Images/Dark%20Sunset.jpg

…and the song “Nashville Skyline” by Dishwalla. Ive always found music to be a great mood enhancer and a great muse while I create anything.

UNFORTUNATLY this is just a tease-I’ll post pictures of the Phoenix tonight ^_^ 😛

      Thanks for looking!

UGH! You people and your teases!! 😆 I need to start doing that to get revenge 👿 Can’t wait to see your Phoenix, Wolfen! Dark Sunset sounds like a beautiful scheme!

I’m glad that you started a PYO thread too! I still think that your Kirin is adorable, he’s got these big dough-eyes that really contrast with his body colors so well. Also, that unicorn is gorgeous! I’m sad that he got broken 🙁

This guy took a lot longer than expected (Im great at starting projects but not at finishing them) but he’s finally done! I had the hardest time getting acurate photos. I took him outside and tried to perch him on the balcony but one of his eyes fell out *headdesk* I didn’t want to glue them in because I’m getting some lighter colored ones from DreamingTree. This phoenix is for sale and I wanted to leave the eye choice up to the buyer. Here are some indoor/flash pictures. I’m pretty proud of this one. :)The orange part of his tail is antiqued in purple and dry brushed with gold. The rest of his body is not antiqued but is drybrushed in a dark silver. I made his perch a piece of Onyx to represent the shadowy earth over which the sunset perches. There is ultra fine purple glitter on the rock. He is painted with acrylics and sealed with a spray sealer in gloss. I didn’t put tons of layers on him so he wouldn’t be “glossy” only a little shiny.

Oh my gosh, I totally remember you posting in progress pics of this too (I think?)! He’s beautiful Wolfen 😀 I love the colors of a sunset and your blending is beautiful!! I hope he sells well for you 🙂

Thank you Hannah! ^_^ I was worried the blending might not be all that great, so Im glad you commented on it. He may have a new home! Im so excited ^_^

Nice work Wolfen! He is beautiful, and he matches your inspiration pic extremely well! Ever thought of sending a copy of the pic that inspired his colours with him? That might be nice! 🙂

Here are some better pictures of the above phoenix. Hes since been sold, but I wanted to post these pictures anyway since he was touched up after the above pictures. The blending was smoothed out some more

Ive got a new Phoenix! He is painted in a special color shift paint. His head and crest, as well as tail are painted in a green that shifts to an orangey champagne, and his body and upper wings are painted in a navy blue that shifts to violet, depending on the angle he’s looked at.

UNFORTUNATLY as I was going to upload the photos, my camera battery died >.<!!!

But I do have another sneak peek of a Breyer horse I tested the paint in. This paint does look better on larger things. Imagine this color on a Phoenix.

So use your imagination for the next hour/half hour till I can get some juice in my battery.

I think that color would look awesome on a phoenix. Is that an auto paint? It seems cool with the shifting colors. I could see it on a keeper as well. Hurry Wolfen, get that battery charged I want to see this phoenix! 😀

Okay! Here is “Quazar”! After this shot, I added more paint to him, so the colors DO show up inside, and the green, blue and purple are more distinct. That orange champagne color-I just cant get it to show in pictures. 🙁 He is for sale if anyone is interested :)He comes with either metallic teal, magenta spectral, pink or green eyes. Personally I think the metallic teal ones look the best. The rock he’s perched on does have some green interference on it as well. After all, such a flashy bird wouldn’t want to perch on a completely boring rock.

I’d also be glad to paint another sculpt like this if someone would like. Ive never painted a keeper or small dragon but would be glad to try 🙂

Sorry about the million pictures. I tried to capture his true colors, but since blue and purple are so close in frequency, the camera had difficulty telling them apart
