So…..because of my weight loss so far (149lb π ), my parents gave me $300 for my birthday to buy clothes. Then, for Christmas, my best friend took me shopping for clothes. She wanted to get me a new top and pants. We didn’t have any luck finding a top that either one of us liked, but we found an awesome sale on jeans. She bought me 3 pair, one in each of the next three sizes that I’ll be needing. So, with what I had, and a couple I exchanged, I now have two pairs of jeans in the next three sizes. I’m set for a while now!
Then, yesterday, I get a call from my hairdresser asking if I could move my appointment up to Saturday. She had something she wanted to run by me. I wasn’t sure I really wanted to because it was 2 weeks early and I didn’t really need a haircut yet, but she had my curiosity up, so I did it. So I get there and she starts telling me about this guy who is a client of hers that was talking about his wife and how hard she has been working at work and on her personal life and that he wanted to do something for her. Maybe a new hairstyle or color or something. Then it dawned on me. It was my husband, talking about me! π³ I was just speechless. My husband isn’t real good about pulling off surprises, but he sure did on this one. I did get my hair colored (for the first time ever). Nothing too drastic. We just brought back the red highlights that I used to have (and covered some gray). I have to admit, I’m liking it! So, yes, I’m feeling pretty spoiled. π What a way to start the new year!

January 3, 2011 at 3:27 pm #835005Awww that is so sweet of your husband! And very thoughtful! Congrats on losing the weight! See, you’re already a step ahead of most of america’s new years resolution to loose a few pounds! π Congrats on the new clothes too-thats always exciting to be able to fit into a smaller size ^_^ Especially now when it seems that clothing companies are making everything smaller. A few years ago I used to wear a medium or sometimes a large, now I have to get XL and XXL sometimes and I am 5’4 140…and my pants size has stayed the same the last 5 years so I haven’t put on much weight! So Im convinced they’re making stuff smaller.
So a big Congrats!January 3, 2011 at 4:40 pm #835006WolfenMachine wrote:Awww that is so sweet of your husband! And very thoughtful! Congrats on losing the weight! So a big Congrats!I think you are right about companies making things smaller especially tops. Like you I used to wear a medium or large top now sometimes even the XL’s are tight through the bust. Jeans are still the same size.
A big congratulations Copper83 on the weight loss that is fantasic and so is your hubby for doing such a great thing for you
January 3, 2011 at 4:56 pm #835007Congrats on the weight loss and for having such a wonderful husband! I lost about 10 pounds they probably came back during the holiday season and I walked mine off along with watching what I ate. Just feels good to have your clothes fitting loose and I love the shopping for new clothes part! Heck Yeah! π
January 3, 2011 at 5:26 pm #835008Thank you everyone. I’m very lucky to have such a thoughtful husband. I’ve had people tell me that he’s always talking about me and that it’s obvious that he’s head over heels about me. π³ π He’s also totally on board with helping me lose weight, he’s even losing weight too.
TDM….sorry I didn’t answer you sooner. I’m doing this by controlling my carbs. I only have 50 to 60 grams a day. I’m doing this to control my diabetes, and in doing so, the weight is just falling off. I’m basically doing a low carb/high fat diet. Since my body doesn’t use carbs right, it now get energy from fat.
As of this morning, I’m down 150lbs! π

Dang! That’s so awesome! π My mom and 2 aunts did the low carb thing too and my mom stopped drinking Coke-a-cola (she drank the stuff like it was going out of style lol) and switched to Diet Dr.Pepper. The low carb thing worked for them too, so it seems to be the way to go.Several months ago I decided to cut back on my sugar and junk food intake and started eating complex carbs (http://howtothinkthin.com/instincts2.htm, ) and avoiding as many foods as possible that had “Partially hydrogenated…” in the ingrediants anywhere… and even just that-I started to really feel a lot better. Its amazing how changing your diet truly can change your whole life.
