So since hanging out with my boyfriend more the last (almost) 2 years, and seeing my furbabies (3 cats and 1 Husky dog) less, I’ve been trying to soak up the kitty goodness where ever I can…in the last month, since my birthday on May 3, Ive aquired about 4 cat books (including Dewey-OMG a great book if you love cats and books) Ive continued my quest for a Siameese TV lamp even harder (like this one http://cgi.ebay.com/Siamese-CATS-TV-Lamp-adv-Lane-Co-electric-NICE-/230485111523?cmd=ViewItem&pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item35a9fbb2e3 {been after one since I saw one in an antique shop here about 3 years ago-I thought it was $12 and was going to shop around and come back for it…well I read the sign wrong, it was $120. Been trying to score one for about $30ish ever since) Ive seriously contemplated parting with more of my Windstone dragons to make room for more “Stray Cats” and of course I have a cat in my sig. If there are cats on animal planet, I have to watch. I’m only 24 with 3 cats and already I feel like the creepy old cat lady LOL (oh, and sssshhh-its our secret-I even had a picture of my Russian Blue put on my debit card-it should be in the mail to me now) It really hit me today, sitting in class when I caught a peek of Dewey (a story about a small town library cat who changes the lives of many folks) AND a mailer from Petco for Science Diet peeking out of my bag. I thought to myself “….oh gosh……O.O whats happening to me?”
Is anyone else here as obsessed with cats/dogs/horses/pet of choice as I am? Tell me your stories so I dont feel so bad 😀
June 15, 2010 at 3:16 am #501010June 15, 2010 at 3:22 am #817871I’ve had two hour conversations with my boss, at work, about our cats……………. on the clock, of course! 😆
I’m obsessed with my cats, don’t get me started, I’ll never shut up!
June 15, 2010 at 3:56 am #817872ummmm…. yeah. crazy cat lady here. yup. i am surrounded by cats. been collecting *anything* with cats on it (including… yes, i have cat flannel pajamas, much to my husband’s non-amusement, lol!!). oh and my stuffed toy cats from my childhood. ahh, i could talk for hours about kitties… although i should be working right now. totally procrastinating on a serious deadline…. 😀
June 15, 2010 at 11:52 am #817873Yup, I’m a crazy cat lady for sure. 😈 I “click” every day to help feed them, I donate to various shelters and rescues, I’ve rescued quite a few and even found some of them homes besides mine. lol I love all animals, really. We have houses so the sparrows and such can nest, we have feeders, etc.
I love the fact that Mel is painting so many new kitties, but I don’t think I can give up any of my other sculpts to make room. 😉
June 15, 2010 at 1:32 pm #817874That Dewey book was a great read! I’m glad you’re enjoying it! 🙂 I wish he was still alive–I’d probably drive down there and visit! 😆
June 15, 2010 at 6:12 pm #817875*raises hand in the back of the class… 😈 * Yup! Had cats before boyohs and hubby; can’t live without ’em. Also raised mice (much to the dismay of my mum), 😈 drove the cats crazy and prolly terrified the mice to death…

June 16, 2010 at 2:52 am #817876* Crazy Cat Lady IN TRAINING!!! 😀 And proud!!!! 8) I especially want to have a Savannah cat someday… 😳
June 16, 2010 at 3:09 am #817877Not cats, but I found a love for pet rats 🙂 I know I’ll always have some in my life. Finances keep me back from having more, but I try my best to spoil the two I have. And I’m constantly looking at items with my rats in mind. I can’t look at a cardboard box or tube, or a plastic container of any type without considering it’s possibility as a rat toy or fort. My room is littered with their toys. And I’ll probably have copies of their paw prints tattooed on me. So, just a little crazy 😳 I haven’t noticed much nice rat related art out there, but I wish there was. Lots of mice stuff, though.
June 16, 2010 at 2:00 pm #817878Little rat paw print tattoos! That’s such a cool idea. 😀 You can be an honorary member of our crazy club, no worries. 😉
June 16, 2010 at 3:31 pm #817879Okay, I’m crazy for birds! Have several of them already–sounds like a walk in the park in here! 😆 And I like all things birds–bird figurines, T-shirts with birds on them, would love to get a tattoo someday of a Phoenix Firebird, so don’t feel bad–I’m already the crazy bird lady! My first Windstone was a Griffin. I have 2 dogs but no cats–it would be a disaster! I love cats but one wouldn’t fit in well here with the birds. I think my dogs would be cool with a cat–but I think the birds would object loudly! I think I’m the only one in the neighborhood that talks to crows. They get on my roof and start pecking around and it sounds like someone’s at the door so I get out and tell them that they’re welcome to visit, but please no pecking! 😆
June 21, 2010 at 8:03 pm #817880Thats kind of the norm in our family, especially for cats and horses. At the moment, the dogs arent local but my cousin use to live (with her man) with over 40 dogs in the house (there was a reason and as an architect, he certainly designed the house and land to accommodate so many large dogs; no they were not breeders and never sold the dogs; they have either passed or are with various family members here and around the world, or working and when they retire, will go back to family members). But like I said, in our family, we have always been animal conscious if not insane about them. I can’t begin to tell you (you don’t want to hear it) the things some of us have done to help or save animals. So it takes a lot for me to consider someone else a stereotypical “crazy cat lady” at the end of the street. We live there already!

June 22, 2010 at 2:57 am #817881Heh, at least your cats are affectionate and appreciative! I’m another crazy bird lady, only the current manifestation involves chickens. At this moment we have over fifty pet chickens in six separate flocks and seven hens with chicks plus two more on nests. There is also a sick elderly Speckled Sussex hen on her third week of living in the kitchen (she has already received one blood transfusion for her Mystery Illness, and keeps angling for another) that cadges handouts every time I open the fridge, a blind hen that I hand-raised and who still gets carried inside every night, a real-live Chicken Boo rooster who started out as an orphaned feral chick last December, and a rooster in a home-built wheelchair.
Weird, I got weird . . . 😈

I would pay to see that! If nothing else, you sound very caring and patient and thats a wonderful quality nowadays when more animals (especially less main stream) are neglected, abused or abandoned to meet poor fates. Way we see it, if vehemently loving animals is crazy or weird, then we’ll gladly hop to the front of that bus, kennel, carrier, pen, corral or cage.

June 22, 2010 at 4:11 pm #817883I would love to see pictures, too, Barrd! Not just of the one in a wheelchair, but all of them. 😀 They are very lucky to be living with you!
