So aside from the SCA my biggest hobby is bellydancing. Yesterday we had a photoshoot at the Fort Worth Water Gardens and already got some of the photos back. Some of them came out great & I thought i would share!
The first one is my favorite. 🙂 I’m very excited as I was just asked to join the Proffesional troupe last week; something I’ve been working towards for years! *happy dance*

May 4, 2010 at 12:16 pm #813767Congrats! You do look great! Love the costumes. 😀 Is there a trick to balancing the swords on your heads? Are they used as props in any of the dances? Cool stuff. 8)
May 4, 2010 at 1:28 pm #813768Congrats! I only live an hour away from Fort Worth. 🙂
May 4, 2010 at 1:36 pm #813769Thanks everyone! 🙂 I’m very excited about what the future holds for my dancing.
Lamortefille; the swords are balanced for dancing which means there is a point along the sword where the weight can be balanced on a point… like your head. 😉 We use them all the time in dancing; they are not just for show. Pretty much my favorite thing to do is sword dance! Right now I’m trying to budget for some new swords (I need a matched set of two as I do double sword dances sometimes) as all the ‘newbies’ in our troupe went out and got the same sword I have. :p I like to be an individual. 😉
Here is a pic of me in March of 2008 (during the one month of my entire life I had my hair dyed black LOL!) doing a double sword dance. Sorry it’s from the back but my friend was sitting on the wrong side of the tent. 😉

Sure thing. Here is our channel onYoutube: http://www.youtube.com/user/tribalevolution#p/u
I’m not in all the videos but I am in alot of them; just look for my hair. 😉
Favorite vids:
Y’halla Y’all ’08: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dktjb8msK78
Holiday show (has some sword too!): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q52RZKnMqrQEDIT: Forgot to mention that both of the above videos are both improv. We don’t plan out the routine before we go onstage but communicate with each other via various cues. So up until the lead dancer (which always is changing) gives the rest of the dancers the cue we don’t know what is next. It’s a pretty cool system!
