I have been having trouble reading lately so I thought I probably needed a contact lens change because it has been almost a year and I am due for my annual eye exam. Bad news I have rapidly developing cataracts in BOTH EYES. Waaaaaaaaa. I have to go back on March 30th to have my eyes dialate and the cataracts measured to see it they are ready to be removed – I think I am going to be a BIG BABY about this.
March 18, 2010 at 8:19 pm #808624Ouch! 🙁 What a bummer. At least surgery for that is so much faster and less invasive than it was years back.
…but I’d be chicken too! *hugs*
March 18, 2010 at 11:00 pm #808625oh no… let us know what you find out. No surgery is pleasant. 🙁
March 18, 2010 at 11:01 pm #808626I was terrified when I went in for my Lasik consult. But they put the drops in, waited a bit, started poking and I didn’t feel a thing. And just think, you’ll be able to see so much better after.
March 19, 2010 at 12:32 am #808627Well, dilation itself isn’t so bad… 😆 but bring sunglasses, and get a ride back, or you’ll have… fun. Every light is like 4x brighter for hours after.
Anyway, the cataract surgery isn’t too bad, from what my grandmother tells me, she got it a couple of years ago. It was kinda weird, but didn’t hurt at all. And the recovery wasn’t too bad.
March 19, 2010 at 1:28 am #808628{{HUGS}} Cataract surgery is so amazing in this day and age… I wish today’s proceedures were available when my mum-in-law had hers done way back in the dark ages… But you can still be anxious about it – I’ll join ya on the bench over here and supply hand holding, chocolate and anything else you may require to make a speedy recovery. ‘Sides, you’ll be able to see all your “pretties” in a “new light”!

March 19, 2010 at 6:47 pm #808632AnonymousOh wow, best of luck with the results! As we age, we gain wisdom and insight, and lose our visual sight it seems! Every year I am upgrading eyeglasses, and can’t find my reading glasses even when I have them perched ontop my head (which btw I had perfect vision until my late 40’s and now BOOM), it really does hit you one day! Eye surgeries nowadays are old hat for the professionals, you will be worried and then you will be thankful when it’s over and done with! GOOD LUCK 🙂
March 19, 2010 at 6:49 pm #808633Do let us know how it went. Hugs!

Their vision is above normal and they’re so glad they had it done. So here’s best wishes to you and that everything turns out well. Hey, you’ll be able to ready without blurriness!
