Sometimes I write poems, especially at times when I feel a bit frustrated or melancholic. I`ve considered these poems private for a long time, but finally came to the conclusion that I want to share them with you, as many of you seems to be interested in art and poetry as well. I`m not sure wheter I`ll delete them in a while or not. Well, I would like to get some feedback. These are the only ones worth sharing here, as they`re written in English. My English is not perfect, but here they are anyways:
First one:
At dark times he gave you light
Comforted and kept you warm
Made you content, full of hope
Helped you find will when all seemed lostYour closest friend he was.
The one you laid your trust upon
Stayed by your side and kept you strong
Always there, always for you…He gave you new experience
Taught you `bout life and how to deal
Helped you face things you didn`t knew
See the world in a different view…Your closest friend he was.
The one you laid your trust upon
Stayed by your side and kept you strong
Always there, always for you…But now as you lay there on the ground
A silent voice speaks to you
The so called friend you trusted
Has left you alone with only pain
The light is gone and in comes the cold
He won`t be there for you anymore
Ability to cope on your own
Is stolen from your weakened soul
Now it`s your time
Time to show
The world that you can rise again
Then take it back, the life you once had
And tell him that he hasn`t wonSecond one:
It captures you
Steals your soul
It holds you back
Heavy wings
all over you
Cannot run
Feeds off you
Battle`s onWhen all is lost
there`s only one left to count on
The one you hate the most
is who you can rely on
And by your side
taking the leading roleLast one:
DOWN BY THE SEA
Down by the sea
That`s where she went
Down by the sea
A place to hide
Down by the sea
Alone in the dark
Down by the sea
she took her last breathA silent whisper inside her head
A single last drop for the pain to vanish
The skie turned black and all dreams were gone…
Heart got cold and happiness defeated…Down by the sea
she handled her hate
Down by the sea
Will taste no more
Down by the sea
The haunting cries
Down by the sea
Forever “no more”…Well that`s all (for now at least). I don`t consider them finished. I possibly never will, as I keep changing them from time to time, especially the second one… 😛 Feel free to comment and please be honest! 🙂
March 10, 2010 at 1:54 pm #808142Aside from some minor English errors (you did say it wasn’t your first language), those were some very nice poems. Nice structure, and they seem to me to have had a lot of heart and soul put into them.
And you’re braver then me. I don’t know if I could ever bring myself to post the poems I wrote when I was having some dark times, so to speak.
March 10, 2010 at 3:34 pm #808143Thanks for sharing your opinion on my poems! I`m glad you like them 🙂 Norwegian is my first language. I was pretty close to write “tought you `bout life…” instead of “taught you `bout life..” 😆 Fortunately I noticed my mistake before submitting…
I think that my best poems are the ones I write when I feel melancholic, frustraded or distressed. At moments like that I feel more inspired and creative when it comes to poetry. Putting all that feelings into words may be a bit uplifting.. Heals the soul in a way… 🙂
March 11, 2010 at 2:51 pm #808144Agreed. And I know a lot of people (myself and my mother included… only she published hers! 😮 ) to whom that applies so there’s gotta be something behind it!
