February 13, 2010 at 1:59 pm #805963Bah! I didn’t get any snow in my stretch of Florida. Was south of the dividing line they were using to forecast the snow. 😡 Gavin didn’t have school yesterday when he could have. We had rain, but no ice (or if there was ice it was long after any child would have been taken home by bus).
February 20, 2010 at 5:34 pm #805964Haha!!! Now thats funny right there!! I only wish I was there to enjoy it! It rained dirt here last night. Do you have any idea how nasty that is??? It smells like a wet litter box. I’d take snow over that any day!
February 21, 2010 at 1:49 am #805965How on earth does it rain dirt??? 😮

I know, RIGHT???!!!
This morning I got to experience the lovely aroma of the burn pit. The smell from the pit where we burn our poop and trash is just lovely. And I love wading thru the aromatic smoke to get to work. :puke:

it rains dirt in Amarillo all the time when it rains.. I know exactly how nasty that is.. and it sooo messes with my allergies.. and makes the car look like hundreds of fairies had hershey squirts on it.. :puke:
February 22, 2010 at 4:54 am #805969Hershey squirts! LOL! 😆
February 22, 2010 at 3:42 pm #805970I remember that in Texas!! Haha! At least in Texas its yellow (where I was, anyway). Today was even worse. Dust hangs in the air… its like a dust storm but the winds are not violent… just annoying. The sun shines thru the dirt and the whole world looks orange. I have never seen anything like it. When we come back from inside, there is dust accumulation on our eyelashes. We spray the canned air on our hair and dust poofs come out. Its soooo nasty. I need to invest in baby wipes and a neck gator. We had an internet blackout for the last day or so. An acft went down and we lost two pilots so no one could use the net. They dont want rumors getting back to families and having folks panic. That happened when I was in NTC in 2001. We had a bird go down and someone called back to the rear before they had all the details… a newspaper printed that all 5 folks had died when they all lived. They all had some pretty substantial injuries, but folks in the rear were freakin.
February 24, 2010 at 2:51 am #805971“the upside-down winter” you’re not kidding! 😕

yeah.. I was gonna sign up for one of those things where you send care packages to troops.. and they all asked for baby wipes.. I sent one of those neck things to my friend in Spain because they had them on sale a few months ago.. now they’re all sold out..
February 24, 2010 at 1:54 pm #805973Care packages are a big moral boost out here. Everyone loves getting letters and packages… its our connection tangible connection to the real world. Some folks even order stuff on line just so they will get mail. The mail room guys are the most popular on the base!! 😀 And baby wipes are a must. I just asked my mom to send me some shampoo and lotion and stuff. All they have out here is the pantene brand and below. Not to sound spoiled, but I like the Nivea or salon stuff and they just dont have it. Maybe she will include cookies or something too. 😀
I dont think they allow the ‘to any Soldier’ packages anymore because of safety reasons. Too bad, too… the troops would love them.
