Just thought of something–when I was working my then coworker mentioned that she always had the feeling that ‘they’ checked our computers every so often and even had some sort of software that keeps track of what you type, what websites you visit etc. Well I feel okay, I know of employers that do this with large departments but there are only two of us. Thought that was stupid and a waste of money–I felt if they did it, they did it to be nosey!
Well I would leave random files on there that would say something to the effect ‘Find what you’re looking for, a**hole!’ and “Bug off and mind your own business!’ and “Geesh, don’t you have something better to do? Do us a favor and get a life!’ I also put random notes around my desk that pretty much was saying the same thing! Weeks before I left I had deleted anything personal that was on my work computer–pictures, music, emails etc but I forgot about the random notes! I’m just sitting here snickering to myself about when they come across these gems now! Some of them really didn’t have nice words in them and I put the tamer ones on here! Just me being my old mischevious self! 👿 XD
😀 At my hubby’s last job…when they let someone go, he got the job of wiping all their files. Even though he isn’t an IT guy. Anyhoo, one day he comes home chuckling. Turns out the guy they just fired had been looking at porn and dating sites for the last month before he left. Not sure if those two things were supposed to hand in hand (aw, I crack myself up 😆 ).
To everyone: If you have any sort of IT people at your job (most offices do, even if they are not on site) and your computers are networked, if the IT person is worth their salt, they can watch everything you see on your screen in real time! Not saying that they do this everywhere, but bear it in mind. My husband works as the IT person for healthcare systems (where employees sign paperwork when they are hired agreeing to use company computers for work and nor personal recreation and they may be monitored, etc) and he can see what any user is doing at any time while they are on a company computer. He sees exactly what they see on their screen. He can also browse and save internet histories if necessary.
Back on topic: My husband wrote several programs for one of the hospitals he used to work at years and years ago, and they still use the programs. Written into the code he ‘signed’ the program and left something funny (I forget what) that does not effect the program at all and can only be seen by those looking at the code. Once in a while he’ll get an note from someone that was looking at the program code thanking him for the laugh! 😉

My art: featherdust.comWell at my old job, their IT person was substandard to put it mildly. He came in usually after hours to do his thing. I remember my boss saying that this guy was looking at inappropriate sites featuring men on his computer! Later he denied he ever said that–like I’m going to forget that!!!!! 😮 We did get an IT person with a brain to help us with our accounting software and he had remote access to our computers and would be able to get on and see what we were doing and fix whatever problems we had. My boss didn’t like him–go figure! I remember one incident when the IT guy with brains was working remotely on our server and the regular idiot came in. When he saw this stuff going on the server he closed it and of course the other IT person introduced himself and said what he was doing. The look on idiot’s face was classic–like his male parts dropped on the floor or something! XD I don’t think the idiot could do that! I could never figure out why they kept this guy or any of the other idiots in their employ. I figured they must have caught my boss in an unnatural act of some sort!
But usually if an employer does have something on their computers to track you, they usually let you know up front–like putting GPS on company cars. I was never told they had anything–it was just a suspicion of my coworker and so I figured if they did–it was really to be nosey! The two sons in charge were always looking at inappropriate sites–and they wondered why they kept picking up viruses! I personally didn’t care, wasn’t looking at anything that I wouldn’t mind sharing with everyone. I wasn’t getting intimate body parts popping up on my screen! And….they were saving some of this crap on my coworker’s computer through some partition of some sort. She found it and deleted every one of them! XD
So ya sees what I was up against–they loved the idiots and couldn’t stand anyone with a brain–so I’m glad they laid me off–it shows that I had a brain!!!! XD XD
