Well it finally happened–today they laid me off. Find it so ironic that they will be keeping my coworker since she was the one they were complaining about the most! Goes to show, good work doesn’t pay off. I’m not that upset about it–relieved really and the people I have called with the news have told me so. These people were jerks [have to put something down that won’t get censored–but you know what I mean] and quite frankly, all this will come back to bite them one day.
So now I get to file for unemployment and sit back for a while. Getting ready for work today I really didn’t want to come in. I came in and saw my desk void of work and I knew—there was something in the air–I knew! My boss and his brother called me in the lunch room and I knew–what a couple of mfs!! Their company is going down because of their poor decisions and I and others have to pay for it. From now on, I should just be a complete screw up!
So for now, I’ll have to be content to just look at the pretties that come up. I did get in on the Sugar Plum Poads last night–no biggie but it will be my last hurrah for a while. Maybe I’m numb and think I’m relieved, but I knew this day would come. But what comes around, goes around–told them that—mark my words!

January 21, 2010 at 4:21 pm #803555From what you’ve told us, this day was coming soon rather than later. I’m glad you’re not too upset over it.
January 21, 2010 at 4:43 pm #803556So sorry LFB. But take some time off and enjoy the unemployment for a bit…
You’re in the Bay Area?January 21, 2010 at 5:45 pm #803557Isn’t that just such a *wonderful* feeling, knowing something’s up? (VERY heavy sarcasm here) It’s like the bottom falls out of your stomach. I know how you feel, LFB–went through it myself back in August. 🙄 Here’s to hoping for something better down the road; “one door closes, another opens up” as the saying goes. *passes the bottle of Bailey’s*
January 21, 2010 at 6:55 pm #803558I’m so sorry – I’ll be hoping and praying that you get a better job (and that the karma fairy bites your boss is the buttocal region!) I will never understand why bad things happen to good people.
January 21, 2010 at 7:26 pm #803559I am sorry you lost your job but hoping a better one comes your way asap
January 21, 2010 at 7:55 pm #803560Sounds like it was for the best, I hope you find a better job soon
January 21, 2010 at 8:43 pm #803561everything happens for a reason… still never fun to deal with in the mean time. i hope the next one will be much better!!
January 21, 2010 at 11:29 pm #803562I’ll be okay for now–have been planning for this for some time–could smell it in the air. But what gets me is that my then boss bitterly complained about my ex-coworker but she’s the one they’re keeping. From what other people tell me, that’s how it works.
I did file online for unemployment and it’s just a matter of getting paperwork from them and having a phone interview. My neighbor’s youngest daughter went through this in December 2008–that was also unfair and now her former place of employment is in a mess as far as office work goes. Oh well!
So I plan to take this time to get my house in order–if it’s true what my neighbor’s daughter told me, I could receive benefits up to a year and a half! Then I’ll be close to the age of hoping to get a widow’s pension from my husband. Personally, I’m through with the work force and hear all sorts of unfair and underhanded crap that some of these employers dish out to people. If I do work I will only accept temporary assignments–have worked through an accounting temp agency and they were good at finding stuff like that for me in the past–that’s how I found this job!
I’ll probably lie low a bit and just relax–I do feel relieved–I don’t have to deal with the problems and drama that went on there. What goes around, comes around! I know that company is already a little over a half million in debt and it’s a small company! My guess if they don’t turn around this year, that’s it–they’re all gone! So I’m not real worried about it–a little afraid because of the finances but I think I’ll make it. I have great support from my friends and people who’ve done that and been there.
