YAY, we have been hit with continuous storms all week! And today a doozy is hitting is with high winds and lots of rain..and i think there is another on the tail of this one? Any way, it is making my power flicker and I will not be surprised if it knocks our power out.(I love it when it does that)
I’ll go out and take some photos later today, if the river is nice and flooded. I am pretty sure it should be getting high by this point. If our power gets knocked out, you may not hear from us for a while. We are having gusts of 50-60 MPH.

January 20, 2010 at 7:38 pm #803350So far, I’ve been fortuntate–no major power outage just a little flicker that was just enough to knock out the clock on my microwave and change the channel on my TV from 3 to 2. No real biggie. Last couple of years with the high winds, it knocked out 2 sections of fence in back of me and loosen up the fence between the neighbors on the side. Since then, the fences have been replaced–only I see some water that got on my porch because the leaves blocked up the downspouts on the gutters again. I really don’t want to go out there with a ladder and clean them out–it only happens when we get very heavy downpours–steady rain I’m fine and those heavy downpours last a few minutes.
The only thing is that I have to go to work tomorrow! Hate driving in all this but it’s just for one day. Personally, I like the rain and like to listen to it–if I don’t have a leak in my roof!!! This weather does make me sleepy and I just might take a nap today. Don’t feel like cleaning up or doing much else, so if you don’t hear from me–my power could have gone off and I may be sleeping! 😀
January 20, 2010 at 7:39 pm #803351WEEEEE!!! I LOVE STORMS!!! They make me feel so invigorated! I got woken up by that BIG thunder we had a little bit ago ^^
January 20, 2010 at 7:50 pm #803352I am a couple hundred miles north of Ventura, closer to Sacramento. I’m north of Ladyfirebird thar.
Yeah! I am actualy surprised the power did NOT go out this time. it flickered off and on all morning so I was just waiting for the crash. The winds finaly died down a little but still a lot of rain. I loooove this weather. makes me so happy.
January 20, 2010 at 8:04 pm #803353gust from 50 to 60 mph… thats a normal day here…LOL (And I so dislike it! lol)
January 22, 2010 at 9:09 am #803354I never really experienced that kind of storm because I don’t born and raised in that area near the beach. Mine is like in the Death Valley at that time.
January 22, 2010 at 10:47 am #803355AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA This is like drizzling for Florida! Finaly an El Nino worth talking about since like 1993/94. Cali is getting hit hard by our standards, down here in Orange County, but when I was back in Florida for hurricaine season…..woooo ya this is like “take a stroll it’s only drizzling” to that.
<3 and hugs to my fellow Californians, hope you're staying dry!
January 23, 2010 at 8:46 am #803356I was in Florida once when it was storming and YES the “storm” here is a drizzle in comparison lol
January 26, 2010 at 12:09 am #803357LOL at the “drizzling”… We are such wimps here! I can’t imagine living somewhere that it rains more than 6” a year. I always like the IDEA of a rainy place. You know, green lush forests and stuff.. but when it comes to actually dealing with it. Yuck. I can’t stand mud in the house! Or smelly wet dogs… that bring mud in the house… haha.
January 26, 2010 at 2:46 am #803358We got over 2″ of rain last night… on top of several feet of standing snow! So it melted all the snow and now it’s flooding like crazy. I’m not in CA though. XD

Yeah, that blew through here in IL not too long ago, and I have to say, it was nice to be rid of the snow…For all that lasted. We got an inch and half lastnight, and they are calling for more tonight. It’s not looking like it will be as much as expected though. Thank goodness. BRING ON THE SPRING!!! :shout: 😈

Yes, I am ready for it to start warming up a bit. Do you think that the Ground Hog will add 2 weeks of winter this year?
