      This auction

      http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250552077399&ssPageName=ADME:B:SS:US:1123#ht_500wt_1182

strikes me as rather odd. The seller has cut out pictures of the pieces from the catalog (?) as the auction picture, but not of the pieces themselves. Is it just me that has alarm bells going off in my head?

Edited to add: Their other pieces look completely legit, so I’m kinda curious about the unicorns.

They do have 100% feedback and a large number of dealings but that bugs me as well. When I can’t see the actual item I don’t bother. You don’t know where they’re from except ‘Sunny Florida’. Ver vague–at least city and state would help. I see some that they use store pictures–they will say that but wasn’t there a problem here with someone who did that because they didn’t actually have the piece?

Rule of thumb–if it raises flags in your mind, pass it up. Yeah, you could be getting those cutouts–what you see is what you get!!! XD

              My feelings, exactly  .

If they removed them from the box to check them over, it would have made more sense to have taken pics of them, and not pics of cut out pics. I’d just skip it if it was me wanting them.

I’ve actually seen a Judge Judy (I think) case where that was exactly what happened. The person bidding won the picture of the item. The seller got creamed in court because she posted the weight of the item in the description and the picture couldn’t possibly have been 8 ounces. It was a weird case.

Judge Judy is a badass! XD I love watching her when it’s 2 guys fighting over something and it’s totally ridiculous they are there in the first place. Those are the best! 😈

Ya I would not bother with this auction. They are almost asking store price anyways, I usually dont bid on ebay auctions if its close to a store price cause I’d rather deal with a reputable dealer instead of ebay anyways. Did anyone email them about whether they are selling the pictures of the actual piece? πŸ˜†

I thought it looked funny to so I sent a message to the seller asking him/her to post pictures of the actual Windstones. So far no reply.

Check the feedback more closely. After going through the first 50, this seller has good feedback on items that sound like Windstones, some feedback mentions Windstone by name, and I see feedback from at least one forum member whose name I recognize immediately. The seller is ill advised to use this type of picture, but I think it is a legitimate listing.

And the seller you are thinking of, LadyFirebird, is Fran Carpenter. πŸ™ Buyer Beware! πŸ‘Ώ I saved this link when I briefly considered buying from her and was nervous about it.

Yow, talk about a pileup of bad feedback! It says she’s not registered anymore, though – that means she won’t be selling under that username, right?

Scary to think they will pop up again with a new name etc.. I am no longer trusting ebay when it comes to Windstone. I will only buy from forum members and Windstone themselves.

Okay, I thought the name looked familiar. Yes, I bought a peacock male dragon from this individual. She packed it quite well and shipped it very quickly. Those pictures are very odd though. I will also mention one last thing about this individual – she contacted me after I had purchased the item telling me that I had forgotten to pay the taxes. I argued this back and forth with her mentioning that she stated that Florida residents had to pay the state taxes, but that I was not a Florida resident and that she had nothing about taxes for other states on her auction. I paid her what was on the invoice, and still she insisted that I owed her money. I was the one who finally relented and paid her about $8.00 extra which wasn’t on the invoice so that I could finally get my item. I also gave her a lecture about what to put on her auctions and in her invoices in the future. Sellers should not come back asking for more money. Do watch this one…
