Ethan – update page 2

Hey all – got home from Cape Cod last night. Boys had scouts so we hustled everyone through dinner and out the door onto other activities… Got a call from the assistant scout master that Ethan had taken a bad fall and was at the emergency room. He face planted hard on the ice – landed on his chin with such force that he gave himself whip lash and shattered all the wires holding his braces to his teeth. Doesn’t remember how it happened. We were extremely fortunate with the three docs on call at the emergency room last night… Patched him up sent him home for the night and now he and I are back in Utah to see the Orthodontist in the a.m. Dr. Walker said that the braces saved E’s teeth – kept them in his head and not out all over the pavement. Looks like some sort of floating splint will be required until everything “sets” again. 2 stitches in his lower lip but no fractures to jaw bone, joints or roots of the teeth. He may wind up with a root canal for 2 of the teeth but if that is all then we are indeed very blessed. If you wouldn’t mind keeping my family in your thoughts and prayers I would certainly appreciate. Hope to be back home Thurs. afternoon-Fri. morning… Thanks muchly for all you do – we lurvs ya’ll lots!

Putting teeth back where they belong is painful, painful business – finally have enough drugs in E that he’s asleep but holy cow the poor boy takes after his mum and metabolizes everything so quickly it doesn’t last long… Keeping fingers crossed for a better night than the last two.

Thankies guys! so far, so good – looks like maaaayyyyyyyybbeee he’s getting some viability back in those teeth (ihopeihopeihope!!!) we see the dentist again tomorrow but he’s here in Soda and not 3 hours away in Utah…
