What kinds/brands of brushes do you all like to use to do your PYOs? I find that they tend to chew through the ones I have at a pretty startling rate (like, one set of brushes to only one or two PYOs), including some of my ‘good’ brushes. So I’m pretty reluctant to use the ‘good’ brushes on the gypsum.

If you have a brand or type of brush that seems to hold up well to the gypsum, I’d be happy to know!

I buy whatever is on sale. Hobby Lobby puts their brushes on 50% off now and then, and I can get a pack of tiny brushes (Master’s Touch) for $2.00. I don’t buy high quality brushes because I’m rough on brushes to begin with. I’d rather destroy a cheap brush than a good one! 😳

Plus I like to play with colourfix paper occasionally… and with that stuff, you might as well be painting on sandpaper! Yeah for cheap brushes! 😆

Size 2 and size 4 of this brush, all the time. =D

Except for the clearcoat, which I just put on with something cheap, because it’s a PITA to clean off…so they get ruined a lot faster.

I also use this to clean them :

Edit, to clarify – I doubt those brushes I use would hold up half as well if I didn’t use that cleaner/preserver on them. You can use it both as a cleaner and as a conditioner (by letting it dry on them, then rinsing it off, before using them again). Otherwise, they’ll get pretty roughed up after one PYO. e.e Not unusable, but not as nice as new. And I’m not one for ‘scrubbing’ when I paint…

There’s something in one of the stickies about brushes too, I think?

Read a sticky? Surely you jest. ;P

I just didn’t think to look there as I didn’t recall brushes ever being discussed. Shows how well I’ve been thinking today.
