Just crossed my mind–Christmas is in 2 months! 😮 I was wondering, with the casting problems and such, plus the fact that we are in a recession and some of us either have no money or are tapped out on credit cards–have you any plans for this season? Don’t want to depress anyone but are you going to be able to get the store stocked with something or will it be a hard candy Christmas as far as Windstones go? Belive me I’m depressed–why hide it ’cause it won’t go away!

Uh, we can’t cast stuff. We can make enough for limited production things and ebay things, but it is a struggle to get any production things stocked. We are concentrating on the best sellers with stone finishes, mostly the candle lamps.
We are working on a batch of “distressed finish” copper patina Oriental dragons right now, it was an experiment to see if we could rescue some nearly perfect dragons that we would otherwise destroy. I REALLY like the way they look with a weathered patina finish on them. It looks like worked copper. We use the patina to actually enhance the little water marks and imperfections that would normally make the castings unusable, and it looks neat!October 13, 2009 at 5:34 pm #786510Melody wrote:We are working on a batch of “distressed finish” copper patina Oriental dragons right now, it was an experiment to see if we could rescue some nearly perfect dragons that we would otherwise destroy. OMG! 😮 I can’t wait to see those!! 😀 I’m glad you’re finding a way to use those imperfections instead of having to toss them! 😀
October 13, 2009 at 6:27 pm #786511Ooooo, I’m looking forward to seeing this as well! Then a crazy thought came to my mind crazy thoughts are always coming into my mind how about a theme that fits these imperfect castings—like battle fatigue dragons, the weary sojourner and such! Could think of all sorts of colors–browns, coppers, greens, golds, rusts that would look interesting with a distressed finish–and the imperfections would just add character! Just a thought–a crazy thought, but a thought. 😈
October 13, 2009 at 6:29 pm #786512Woo! I can’t wait to see them.
October 13, 2009 at 9:27 pm #786513Me neither! That’s gonna look so freaking cool 8) . I love the weathered patina color scheme anyways. I don’t think I’m gonna to be able to swing it financially this time round on the orientals, but I really like LadyFirebird’s idea for ‘battle damaged’ dragons. A male done that way would look really neat too 😀 .
October 14, 2009 at 12:20 am #786514Yeah, I just thought–when life gives you lemons–make lemonade! There could be a interesting theme here–and each one would be unique and…..people would go for them because it would be one of those ‘goof up–hopefully never to occur again’ things! People would collect them just for that–like the White Flapcat eye goof up–I saw one at over $600 on ebay! An unplanned OAAK–it would be a shame to let all those items go to waste. Unless they are unstable to the point of crumbling, you could label them ‘dragons in distress’ and give them different names. Hey, why not??!!!! 😀
October 14, 2009 at 1:13 am #786515“Dragons in Distress” 😆 😆 That’s awesome, LadyFirebird!
October 14, 2009 at 12:28 pm #786516That would be awesome. And I’m sure none of us would mind an awesome dragon with a few flaws! Expecially…mumble…fledgies…mumble….
