I’m new to the forums, I apologize if I’m posting this in the wrong section. I picked up a Windstone Editions dragon from a thrift store today for $15. I am not a collector but have seen Windstone collections on other forums and knew they were sought after. I was wondering if someone could tell me about what I found and a price for it. Any information would be appreciated, thank you.

September 17, 2009 at 4:28 am #783794Hello, as MonaLS said, that’s the male dragon in brown. Here’s some information about it from the Astral Castle Windstone Encyclopedia, which lists the original retail price at $56 & $80
As for going price on Ebay; here’s some Ebay auction ending prices for Non-Mint:

That’s one way to get a better idea of an Old Brown’s age: the very oldest ones don’t have a felt pad, just a stamp. But age doesn’t necessarily affect value, at least not to every collector. The Old Browns have some color variants since they were produced for a good long while, which means that folks tend to look for an Old Brown that has the color combination that they like best. Yours is a very nice example of a darker Old Brown, with less yellow and more burnt orange. I see that he has a chip on his tail, but that can be fixed; there are some very good repair people on the Forum. Finding him for $15 is a superb price–well done! 🙂
September 17, 2009 at 6:35 am #783796Thank you everyone. He does have a felt bottom and unfortunately a few chips. I think I’ll probably hold onto him. I’ve always admired Windstones and always hoped to come across one secondhand. Is there a way I can fix the chips myself so he doesn’t further fall apart?
September 17, 2009 at 8:35 am #783797Yes, there is a link around here for tip for repairing Windstones. There are also folks on here that do it for a small fee. They are very good!
September 17, 2009 at 1:56 pm #783798AHH!! I see a pony in the background! Do you collect them? 🙂
September 17, 2009 at 4:26 pm #783799Ok I will have a look around and see! Everyone’s collections are amazing!
Yes, I’m a toy collector mostly. My little ponies and care bears are my main collection, and then other random things from the 80’s. 😀
September 17, 2009 at 6:12 pm #783800Leave it to Wolfen to spot the pony. Now that it’s been pointed out I recognise Bow Tie’s bootie. 😆
September 17, 2009 at 7:11 pm #783801I found Kyrins repair thread. She is really good.
