Some of you know that Princess, my rabbit, dissapeared on 29 May. Since then I have been visiting the Humane Society regularly. While I was there looking for for Princess, I visited the cat cages and this timid female cat that spent all her time curled up in her litter box. She was not aggesive, but she certainly did not invite attention. I visited her every time I went and finally decided to bring her home. So far she is ideal. She just hangs out in the laundry room. We are able to pet her, but for the most part she just hides either behind the washer or in one of the cat trees. I think I will name her Timmorn, even though she only has one yellow eye… the other is bright blue. When she looked at me, it was a shock. Her eyes are striking. I have had her for two weeks and didnt want to post till I was sure it would work out. So now I have Moocah, Bacchus, and Timmorn. She is a little over two years old. I cant decide between TImmorn or Timmain… Both from Elfquest.

June 30, 2009 at 1:27 pm #772244Aw, she’s very pretty and unique looking! So nice of you to give a timid one a chance for a good home. 😀
June 30, 2009 at 2:22 pm #772245She’s cute! Is she deaf? I’ve heard cats with different color eyes are sometimes deaf.
At any rate, you did a great thing in adopting her! I’m sure she’ll warm up in no time!June 30, 2009 at 2:32 pm #772246She looks so sweet. Hopefully she’ll start coming out of hiding more and more to spend time with you and your family.

June 30, 2009 at 5:27 pm #772248She’s got this look saying: “Now is not a good time to take my picture, human. My fur’s all ruffled up from my nap.”
Read my books! Volume 1 and 2 of A Dragon Medley are available now.

June 30, 2009 at 6:46 pm #772250Congrats Ski!! I love the odd color eyes.

I’m sure she’ll warm up in no time!ooh, I dont know… She may be… its not like she comes when we call her. 😀 I have not even really seen her walk much, though she does travel from the washer to the windowsill to the litter box. We just never see it.
When I go to pick her up its like she’s suffering from rigormortis. She is really stiff. Her fur is pretty dry, too, but I dont know if its from nutrition issues or just from laying in the litter box at the shelter for a month and a half. I dont want to bathe her yet… she is def not ready for that. She really seems healthy otherwise… just timid. She purred when I pet her this morning… as she lay in the cat tree. I dont think she is ready to face the house yet. Moocah may not be scary, but that dog I am fostering is def not for the faint of heart cat. Plus she has been in a 3×3 kennel for a couple months. The laundry room is probably a nice change. Poor girl.
I started leaning towards Timmain just because she is a girl character and not a boy, but the name Timmorn is cooler. Im still undecided. Hopefully I can get a better pic one day… like one of her whole body… I have yet to see it. 😆
Thanks all!!
I think her eyes are what sealed the deal… that and I am a sucker for an underdog.
June 30, 2009 at 6:51 pm #772252She’s a cutie, Ski. I think she’ll warm up with time. I’ve never seen a cat with a yellow eye before. What dog are you fostering?

I have a dog from HDF named Makai. You can read about her here though her bio is way off and even though I have sent a correct one three times, they have yet to update it. I put an add on CL here. She is very sweet and very smart, but she will torture a cat if the cat is scared. When we first got her she was a terror! She tried to kill Moocah and Bacchus, and then lunged at my son! I told the foundation to come get her but they didnt return my calls. Makai spent her first week at my house either in a kennel or on a leash in the house. It took a lot of work, but now she is ok with my cats, though still chases them about once a day. She is ok with a lot more dogs, too. When we first got her, she would bite first and ask questions later. She has not lunged at a kid since June 3rd, which was the first time she had done it since after the 1st week we got her, and she has not snapped at me since that first week. We love her now, but she still has some anxiety issues. She is great alone in the house, too, which is nice, but she freaks out at changes… and the water hose, and water guns, and cameras, and remote controls, and shoes, and pretty much anything else you may be able to throw at her. I think she was left on a chain in a backyard and teased a lot before she came to us. We will have her till August. According to the foundation, she has an adopter, but the adopter will not be on island till October.
July 1, 2009 at 6:03 pm #772254Oh my gosh, she sounds like she was abused badly! Her first reaction of attacking sounds like a defense mechanism. It’s very nice of you to foster her, ski. She’s changing already from the love you’ve shown her! She may always be skittish, but I think she’ll lose the aggression. I hope the adopter likes her!
